Here is my Peugeot WRC 2000 from Tamiya. Got it for $26 on one of the Z-shops on amazon.com. I recieved it in 6 days from the day I ordered. This kit really cool with all the detail. I can see quality better than any other Tamiya kit ive done and it should be a joy to build.
I also bought this Sakura Micropen thats .20mm for panel lines. I havnt done anything to it yet but I should start tonight on the chassis. Sorry, the pics were not taken in good light. Ill let the pics speak now

I tried puttting on the carbon fiber decals for the sparcos but microsol couldnt solve the problem. So I ripped those off to keep the seats semetrical.(sp?)

That's a bit thick, I have a Micron .005 for panel lines.

More progress. I painted the body with TS-17 with 3 progressivly heavier mist coats and one wet coat and I got the paint perfect. It was a first for no orange peel. I also started putting decals on. Ive only destroyed the 'eurodatacar' decal so far and the big 206 decal started to dry when It wasnt in the right place and it tore just a tiny bit. But I will learn from my mistakes:rolleyes:

Ghost_9418
07-10-2003, 08:35 AM
finished most of the decals...no problems execpt for the scoop on top as the decal had to go over it. So I made a few cuts and applied microsol to help it conform.:icon16:

How easily did the decal on the roof go on?
Ghost_9418
07-11-2003, 03:13 AM
Well the flat decal wouldnt go over the roof easily so I just made a few snips with an Xacto knife on the areas that were raised and dabbed a tiny bit of micro sol on the areas with the cuts and that did the job.

Very fine looking, and may I add a little tip ==> paint the black trim around the windows too, it makes it look so much better ( I mean the trim that is on the bodywork... )

Looks good Ghost.
Try using a hairdryer and lotsa microsol on the seats or any other parts for future decaling applications.
Otherwise, good job on the panel lines and paint job!

Hi, mate. Looks good. But take a closer look at the pics I sent you (or other references) to see which parts of the car (especially doors) should be black.

What's that? your dog looks a bit sick ?? :frown:
and your car... great !
You seem to have managed the roof decal very well , and it seems to come together very well, just watch out to cut the decal trim around the "magnesio " labels on the rims enough , so you can get them right into place . If you haven't done that already.

Thanks for the comments. I will try and redo the rim decals by cutting off the trim. Thats where I had the problem. And I just woke up my dog to take that pic of her so she was still sleepy

Should I leave these panels clear to show the detail or paint them black as they are supposed to be?

The final decision is yours of course. I prefer to paint the sump guards properly as that is the way they are on the real car. On the other hand leaving them clear lets you see the suspension and drive train detail. I suppose it boils down to whether you want to build an accurate scale model or a toy.

Nah, I would'nt call a scale model with a clear underside just a toy, My opinion is that is gives you a better view at how the car was actually built.
I also like it when the udnerside is very detailed, and the only way anybody will ever see that is by leaving it clear.
But the final choice is up to you; build a realistic model with many "hidden" details, or build one with aparent detail work on the chassis .

You are definitively on the good way. The car is looking great.
About leaving the bottom panels clear I totally agree with my A.F. colleges, it’s a personal choice.
I prefer to paint them since I like to build the cars the closest to the real models.
In any case some times is frustrating to have so much work in the suspensions, engine, etc and the cover everything.

Nice progress so far, its coming along very well, good work on the decals, I had alot of trouble doing the decals on my pug aswell, wasnt the same one as yours but im hoping on buying this one soon, my personaly preference about the clear peices is leave them completely off, as I find I like to be able to see everything I have done clearly to the bottom of the chassis on my models, ( detailing the underside of a car is what I do best) so its really up to you, I prefer to leave them off, just because I dont want to paint them as you would if you were trying to replicate the real car because that covers up all my nice work, and leaving them clear just looks dumb to me.

If you want an idea for the protection plates under the car look at that :
