Subspace

Reading that Starcraft thread reminded me about a game I had a few years ago called Subspace. I haven't played it in years, in fact I had forgotten about it entirely. I'm downloading it again right now.
It's a 2D top view space shooter where you fly around, shoot ships and try to stay alive. Only thing is, it's multiplayer only, and the other ships are all human controlled, no computer ships. There are different zones you can enter, and each zone can contain as many as 250 other real life players out to get you. Great fun!!!
You can get it at www.subspacehq.com It's only 6.5 meg, and it provides hours of wholesome (well, maybe not) fun!

I had that a while ago. It got boring though, especially when people just get easy kills on you when they have a ship 5x better than yours.

That's a cool game, I play that at school all the time.
I have it at home also.

However, there is a great rival to Star Craft; Age Of Empires 2. While the races look the same and are similar in many areas, they also differ. Some races, like the Vikings, have a great navy, others like Celts have fast infantry and can chop wood faster than other race. The Franks have Cavalry that have 20% (or some percentage like that) more hit points then other races cavalry.
There are also more commands like Guard, Follow, Aggresive stance (units fight to the death), Defensive stance (units attack other units until they run out of an area). Plus you can make WALLS! w00t w00t!! You can make castles and towers, and garrison units inside (like putting 20 archers in a castle will mow down anything that comes near it, except the all mighty Trebuchet).
The best are monks, which can heal units and convert enemy units.
AOE2 is great too!

Yes, I agree, AOE2 is a good rival to starcraft, it seems more realistic and is more complicated. I can't wait until stronghold comes out though.
For those who care and haven't heard, it's a game where you get to build a castle and run everything inside it. You have trebuchets, archers, knights and such. If your attcked and are going to lose, you can pack up and move elsewhere through the backdoor. Teh graphics are amzing and the overall game will be one of my favourites.

Also, anyone who hasn't (and that's a lot) played Homeworld, which didn't succeed very well in terms of sales, should spend the 20 or so bux it costs now and buy it. It's pretty old now (over a year), though. It's a game like no other, and you WILL enjoy it. Don't even bother getting the demo, because after playing it, you will just want the full game right away, and you won't have it.
Bottom line, go get Homeworld, I promise you, you will love me.

the Age of Empire serie is great never found a better AI. A lot of cames like C&C are too simple you only have to create vast amounts of units and then crash evrytthing but that wont work in AoE:D
Homeworld is graphically a very good game. There aren't a lot of games where you can choose the point of view so free like in Homeworld. Difficult is high but doable:bandit:
