Building Dan Gurney's car from the 1/25 scale Revell Hemi Cuda. The lime green parts come from the 1/24 scale Monogram AAR Cuda. Air cleaner from the '66 Revell Shelby GT350. Intake manifold from the AMT '70 Duster. Scratch built the headers and cross over oil tube.

They acid dipped the bodies to reduce weight but as a consequence also reduced rigidity. Therefore they added a lot of reinforcing starting with the elaborate roll cage.

The reinforcing continued under the car by adding a cross brace.

Looking great so far! I would like to do this car as well sometime in the future but don't know that I have the skills or patience to take it to this level. Will definitely be following!

I really love this subject and the modifications you put into it ! Very inspiring... Is a Dodge Charger part of your plans too ?

Thanks Chris. If I could find a MPC '70 Challenger body for a fair price I would like to do Sam Posey's ride but no luck to date in acquiring one.

Thank you for the comments. The actual build took about 6-months and was completed a few weeks ago. Wanted to share it here as a WIP thread so you could see the added detail more clearly.

Really impressive and great build AFXracing! Superb looking car!
I can't wait to see your nex build, the Falcon. It looks already great! Did you use the trumpeter kit as the base? I also intend to build it as Bo Ljungfeld '64 Monte Carlo Rallye car. He incredibly won all!!! the special stages but handicap system favoured the Mini... He came second finally:

I would like to build a rally Falcon also corrrado, they are a great story.

I used the Trumpeter body and a Revell Shelby GT350R for the chassis, interior and engine.

Wow AFXracing! The Falcon looks really superb! Great build as usual!
Could you please help me in identifying the parts for the rally Falcon? I am not good at american cars :frown:. The Rally Falcon apparently had a small block 289 with 2 four barrel Carter carbs and a T10 manual transmission.Do you know from which kit can I resource them or preferebly who produces them as aftermarket parts? These are my references so far:

Just an interesting fact, Graham Hill, the Formula1 champion, also participated the 1964 Rallye Monte Carlo in a Falcon:

Thanks corrrado. The Shelby kit I used has a very nice 289 engine with the T-10 transmission. The Trumpeter Falcon also includes the 289 engine. Fireball Modelworks offer some very nice Carter carburetors.

Thank you for the info AFXracing :). In fact the original engine is not too bad, I just did not know that it is the 289, so I'll only need the carbs from Fireball Modellworks.
That looks awesome on the picture. Just one more question, is the distributor from Morgan automotive detail? Looks great!

Distributor is by R&MCo.MD. He offers them with a red or black resin cap. Also bought the coil from him.
