RS3200 upgrade from keyless entry

I have a 2003 Tundra Step Side with Keyless Entry. I purchased the RS3200 upgrade (P/N 08586-0C830) from the dealership.

The keyless entry still works, but the alarm does not set. I can tap on the glass, shake the truck, open the door nothing happens. The LED does not come on when setting the alarm.

I've followed some of the instructions for programing the alarm that came with it - all of these apear to work and the LED will turn on and off while I'm doing it.

The dealership told me they had orderd the part for one other person but their service department could not make work, so they sold him the complete kit and took out the factory keyless entry and rewired the entire thing. I would prefer not to do that. I've called Toyota directly and they confimed it was the right part but couldn't provide technical support. I've also tried disconnecting the battery, but that had no effect.

Any help???

Is there a way to reset the alarm or cause it to recognize the part has been put in?

By all means that unit is pretty much plug and play. So, once it is hooked up, it should work. Personally, you probably got taken on the unit. Those are kinda nasty compared to nice aftermarket alarms for 1/2 the cost. From the $$ I have seen for those alarms around here, you could have had a Viper alarm with remote start :banghead:
