ATC fuse, and other 4x4 issues 2001 sierra

yesterday took truck out of 4hi into 2hi, all indicator lights on transfer case control switch go out, except the backlights when headlights are on. checked 4WD fuse in cab (15A), its good. ATC fuse under hood #2 (20A) is blown, i replace, turn on truck, all indicators flash, like normal at start up, switch shows i am 4hi, which i know for sure i'm not. i try to switch into 2hi, indicator lights go out and fuse blows. repeat, same thing. any ideas? i live in alaska and i need this rig to get to work. i ordered a transfer case control switch already, waiting on the mail for that.
