Hi,
after i finished my latest model i quickly started a new one.
This time its the old group C Ford C100 and his later brother the Zakspeed C1/4.
The Ford factory car was the first that raced in the new group c tournament.
But against the Porsche 956 he got absolut no chance.
The whole car was too soft and the cosworth engine was a real vibrator to the car and destroyed parts and the drivers.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0001pgkvo.jpg

The later Zakspeed version with their own turbo engine was a bit better, but still got no chance against the Porsche`s.
But the car won the Interserie tournament with my favorite driver Klaus Niedzwiedz.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_00022jjvx.jpg

Decals are already here.Made by Michael from scalegrafixx.de.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_00059sjrp.jpg

Starting point are the very old rc-body from Tamiya.I got two of them to build both versions.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0003hjji1.jpg

I will try to use the tires and the resin chassis from my Porsche 956.Dont know if this works?

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0004koj4y.jpg

The factory car should be the easy one.The GWB Zakspeed car needs lots of body changes.
How ever, its one of my favorite cars from Zakspeed as i saw it in real racing against the Porsche.
Any picture from these car would be very helpful for me.I think i got all the published books out there. But maybe somebody got some secret pics on his hdd drive at home and wants to share with me?

The lights are done.only the inlays needs some sanding.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0011p2sol.jpg

The front air intake was made of ureol and lot of putty.

The Zakspeed is done. Most of the body.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0028d9up1.jpg

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_00309uuyx.jpg

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0031eyuab.jpg

I looked at my original pictures for a while and at the end i am nit 100% sure that this version was running these days?
There are so much different version and evolution at the race car i want to build and not enough reference pictures.
So i decided to build it in my own way.
Now i try to find a matching zero paint color for the green, orange and blue on the car.

Next step are the come together of body and chassis.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_003259sk2.jpg

The front wheels did not fit into the small wheel arches. So i had to scratch a bit.I sanded the wheel on the top and on the bottom a bit.
Was better but still a right height of a SUV.
So i used a styrene sheet under both side and now it looks way better. You can see the brown putty i used for it.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_00330dsco.jpg

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_00345ss7w.jpg

First time for me to open the door.Works well, but again a problem was detected.
When the door is open it can lay onto the fender just like the real car ca.
Seams like Tamiya did some strange angles at the body.
So i simply cut another edge from the door and now it can be glued to the fender when its done.
Its not correct, but it works. That is what counts.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0036r3sxz.jpg

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0035jdshb.jpg

On the inside i used some pins and sockets to hold altogether in the right spot.works fine, only need some fine sanding.

The C1/8 grows.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0110wsq40.jpg

The chassis is nearly done.Only some small adjustments.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_01112uqgb.jpg

The inside was build with plastic sheet. The 956 Chassis fits good, only a few changes are made.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0112gfre9.jpg

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0113targz.jpg

Rear of the car with diffusor and frame.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0114nfoh3.jpg

Shot from "down under".Its not like the real one,but its ok.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0115bhqdw.jpg

Chassis and body could be click together easily.

Thanks for watching!

New year and some more progress on the Zakspeed group C ar.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0157mpsxw.jpg

The body main color is done now.I used Tamiya white fine primer as the base color.Works fine.
The stripes color was bought from Zero Paint. Now i only have to mask all the stripes.
Looks like a lot of work to me.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0158hessu.jpg

The cut out door get a sub frame with lots of holes in it.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0159xfsq1.jpg

The rear wing was a 1+1/4 Porsche 956 wing. The side plates are made from plastic sheet.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_016007s85.jpg

Thats all, have to mask that stripes now.

Stripes part one are made.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_01613oqmo.jpg

I used the Tamiya masking tape 5mm white which works perfect for all the curves.

Now it can dry over night before i tackle the orange stripes.

It looks better and better with every color more.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0162yrj04.jpg

Orange works also fine.
Next will be the green stripes and than a shot of clear coat.

Only got one tiny mistake which i can repair very easy.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_01648yutn.jpg

Only two or three spots needs some attention.
Than i will spray the first layer of clear coat before i apply the decals.

First coat clear coat was applied today.
It cant be seen on the pic,but believe me its there.

Most of the decals are done.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_01664skuv.jpg

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0169nvkmf.jpg

Looking nice so far. There are only three decals that need some attention.

https://abload.de/img/zak-c100_0170dhjt3.jpg

The roof decals is much too big and needs a smaller size and also the front wing decal "Pentosin" is too big.And at the back i need a new number 8 for the zakspeed c1/8 instead of 1/4.
Thats all.

The body parts are now done. All are polished and waiting for the chassis.

https://abload.de/img/gwb-zak_0055b4s1t.jpg

I used some Alclad for the chassis. The tires are also done together with some smaller parts.
Time to put these parts together and go on with the cockpit stuff.

Something different.
A airbrush cover to avoid fumes and dust.
The cover is done so far.Only need to attach the front cover with the 3 holes in it.

https://abload.de/img/gwb-zak_00569quc5.jpg

https://abload.de/img/gwb-zak_00575zuhc.jpg

https://abload.de/img/gwb-zak_0060rwudr.jpg

https://abload.de/img/gwb-zak_0061s7u38.jpg

https://abload.de/img/gwb-zak_00635cuzv.jpg

I used clear acryl sheet which i bought a while ago for my display cabinet.I want ti use it as glas floors, but the models are too heavy. So i ordered some real glas in the mean time.
But what to do with the 5 acryl sheets?
So i decided to build a cover for my airbrush extraction system.
The frame is 3mm aluminum and all is screwed together.
Will test them i a couple of days.

The final tire version was painted and installed.
Now i can go on with the cockpit installation with dashboard and other stuff.

https://abload.de/img/gwb-zak_0066wrrbn.jpg

For test fit i put the cossie in the engine bay.Works.

https://abload.de/img/gwb-zak_0067hro1w.jpg

The dashboard is the next bigger step.Need to create the instruments and switches.

I'm jealous - the car looks great, the gauges are brilliant, you can spraypaint indoors in the warm, and you've got a 935-77 on the wall on the calendar...

Top man!

Dashboard is finished.Used some screws, dips and other stuff from the spare box.And finally with Wims decals the dashboard get some life.
