yesturday i saw some RB swaps threads. now all i see are RB swaps thread. at first it seems to be nice RB20DET swap questions, then it moved up to RB25DET swaps and now all i see are questions about insane RB26DETT. yes we all know that it can be done. but damn why are all these questions poping up over night like this? i find this pretty funny ( in a interesting way ) no flaming. i didn't post this to flame. i just posted this as my observation which is pretty obvious:biggrin:

damm it every1 wants a rb in 240sx now.. they will see that it is easier said then done as i have..

i think that they shouldn't be as much thread about rb motors because these same questions have been done soo many times in this forum i my self had made to rb threads in the past.. if some of them would just take the time to do the search they can find alot of thread on this topic.. but o well what can you do..

i blame this on 2f2f!!

Half of the people who come here and post about RB swaps may never actually go through with the transplant. Its mad expensive and I don't think there are many shops that can do it correctly and well. I guess its the new craze then. Besides, whats wrong with a stock KA. All of you owners who are still running your KA's love them, so wheres the need for a transplant? If you have the money, get it done, but if not, don't come here talking about it.

I was thinking about an RB25DET swap at one point but I'm not one to do what everyone else has, so now I'm looking into engine internals and all that for a N/A KA24DE

i thought about an rb20 swap for all of a day. i think it would be better to stick with the stock ka aswell. i think people are just asking out of curiosty, it is a nice thing to think about. i might do it if i had the $$, but i think i'd do an sr or ka(t) first.

yeah i was going to go RB25 til everyone wanted to do it. they have pushed up the prices in the last few months and it sucks. just like the SR now it is too much money for just an engine. and one that is so plentiful over where they get them. damn bastards. oh it's not that expensive now with McKinney making motor & trans mounts and a drive shaft too for less than 1200 bucks. Unstable-Hybrids has motor and tranny mounts too. and there are starting to be support for the engines. guess i'll have to wait til the prices drop again.

RB20 is THE MOST POINTLESS SHIT EVER!!

Why the FUCK do you want a slower, heavier, weaker older engine in your car, and pay MORE for it than an SR20.

P.S

KA-T 0wnz j00.

1000 bucks for 200whp is the shit...

actually, if I wanted to get an RB, it would be the RB20DET...... I think that motor is badass.... kick the shit out of an SR as far as a track motor. Rb25 is over rated, RB26 is for the skyline.......

I think SR is overrated as well...

KA all the way.

Ya, with a home made KA-T kit, its possible, J SPEC SILEIGHTY and SR20DETPower have outlined it

I could get a T3/T4 off some shitbox 80s car, like a Renault Fuego, or a Volvo, hell, a K-series offf a VW, and then get a manifold from this welding shop a few blocks from my house.

Its easy.

u can get more then 200rwhp for 1k bucks if you turbo your KA wisely and cost effectively....... people put down around 225rwhp for basic KA stuff....

and if you got a cheap junkyard turbo and rebuilt it or such,(not buying a new turbo) your budget would be way under 1k.

330 bucks for INt wastegate manifold
100 bucks junkyard turbo/actuator
Hacked MAF free
Used SR injectors 100 bucks
Turbo Piping 200 bucks
Manual boost controller 15bucks

so for 750 bucks plus shipping on a couple parts you could be putting down 200rwhp

lets not forget what we are starting with vs an SR.........

2.4L vs 2.0L
in there naturally aspirated trims KA=155hp SR=140hp

People say the SR can handle more boost and all, but the KA needs less boost to make more power........ and if you know anything about turbocharging, that is one hell of a good thing.

the one reason why I like the RB20 is its lower displacement.

think of something like an SR20...... with two more pistons, everyone loves inline 6's too......, a better designed engine, and more potential.

RB20 is one hell of a peaky motor.

i agree with SR20. i love RB20's. in no way are they "pointless shit". sure it may be older, but most places will only sell you an engine that's in really good shape. for the price of an SR or sometimes less, you get a 200+hp inline 6. makes sense to me!

i agree, it's all about the "super-cool" fast/furious movie...whenever teens see these sort of things, they want 2 be the 1st 2 go out and get one, and once they realize they cant purchase an 80k car, they wanna go for the next best thing...makes people like me who are serious about power and not just impressing the girl next door seem like trend whores

IMO Screw the RB swap..I'd rather dump all that money into my suspension:devil:

FYI kids...The stock tension rods on on s13's are not the strongest pieces in the world not that I would know that they snap easily from where the bolts are that hold them on to the control arm..:icesangel

truer words never spoken.....

*edit*

I think it wise to leave some things stock and work on others.... instead of getting all your bolt on parts, Id rather buy some brakes, LSD, driveshaft, clutch, flywheel, and maybe a couple parts just for noise purposes, I like loud noises lol...... The car would be much better with an upgraded drivetrain etc.... the stock engine isn't that bad..... its no Viper but its no Hyundai you know lol.......

J SPEC said I could get 200whp for roughly $1000...

I tend to overbudget, so I can have some cash if something goes wrong.
