06 ranger engine issue

My son has a 2006 Ford Ranger with a 3.0 liter V6 with 130,000 miles on it. Today while driving it quit running with no noise or warning light. I thought it may have been the alternator/battery, battery is fine, starter engages but will not turn over. I am trying to turn it over manually with no luck. Timing chain?
