Car was not starting and started all of a sudden

Hi Guys,

I have a Hyundai Tucson 2008 car.

I had this issue with the car yesterday and I am wondering if anybody can direct me with what might be the problem.

Used the car until 9 in evening on Thursday without any issues.

Tried to start car on Friday afternoon and car was not starting.*

Dashboard lights were on. Whenever I try to start the car, I just hear a click and the dashboard lights go off.

After few minutes dashboard lights come on. If I try to start again, dashboard lights go off after a click.

I have tried to jump start the car, still the same problem. I have tried quite a few times to jump start. One time I have waited 20 minutes with the jumper cable before trying to start.

Still did not start.

On Saturday afternoon, I went to the car and I see the dashboard lights were on and I tried to start the car and it started without any issues.

I am confused and worried about what might be the problem. Now I don't feel comfortable going somewhere because I don't know what was the actual problem.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thank you. I will clean the terminals. I will learn how to check ground. I am not clued up with cars.


Do you think the car was not starting because of the ground? Why do think it started the next day? May be because opening and closing the hood few times something moved and fixed the ground?

It could have just made slightly more connection, just enough to start. I've run into a fair share of cars that wouldn't start and a quick cleaning of the terminals, or cleaning of grounds fixed it right up.
