Hi everyone,

I've been taking a break from my McLaren and turned my attention to this little project. Reference images are scarce and there isn't much in the way of race history but from what I can understand it competed in the 97 JTGC in Japan.

The base kit is the Calsonic GTR from Tamiya and the decals are from Tabu Design.

A couple of reference photos of the actual car.

Ok here we go

As you can see there are a few differences between the Calsonic car and this one. I had some spare vents that would suit so I cut and glued them in. At the same time I filled in the vents further up the bonnet.

Then fill in the intakes just past the doors and create a couple of new vents in the rear bumper

Then the real tricky part of remaking the bumper. This is what I came up with...

https://s30.postimg.org/9go46jhjl/IMG_7309.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/hyxkavo25/)

Then add some colour...

https://s30.postimg.org/qkw8hqaoh/IMG_7305.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/dti2b80wd/)

and finally the decals

Then I've built up the chassis and borrowed some wheels from a Supra to see how it sits. This is how it's looking currently, still got a bit of work to figure out the rear wing

Today I've been working on the polishing the body after clear coat and adding the smaller details but I'll save them for the next post.

Wow, that is looking brilliant. I think the Calsonic R33 is one of my favourite models; it just looks right. Your Autobacs version something else again!
