The July issue is a "special" to honor the magazine's 70th anniversary. I was pleasantly surprised to see an F1 with the new 720S on the cover of Road & Track. I'm not sure which car is on the cover, but #018 was shot for an article/multi-interview titled "The One". Chassis #018 is also accompanied by a silver F1 in several photos, plus there are appearances made by a GTR's bare interior, a nose compartment belonging to a red car and a few historical photos. The article itself is a collection of commentary from people involved with McLaren and/or the F1, including names like Jay Leno and Ray Bellm. Lastly, the "F2" can be found elsewhere in the issue.

I went a couple of rounds via email with the author about the opening sentence. Due to 60-some years of historical practice at Road&Track they counted the Spare Chassis in their production total and he is unable to correct that.
Otherwise indeed a very good read.

OK good to know this one. There were really interesting stories. Nothing of these really did not surprised me how high level they really do these things, during service and so on. Briliant to read!

Just a quick follow-up; I noticed Road & Track finally put the article online:
What Made the McLaren F1 the World's Greatest Car (http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a10368266/the-complete-oral-history-of-the-mclaren-f1/)
The article includes some great images of #018! Any inclination which chassis numbers belong to the other cars shown?
Edit: I am just noticing that Sami beat me to it!
