So, the 2017 Tour is about to start, Social Media frenzy countdown is on and many F1's, P1's, P1GTR's, P1LM's, etc will be taking part.
In previous years the rules were you can take pictures but don't post them til the Tour ends, but that may be hard given the vloggers / bloggers on the route wanting to up their IG like-count.
A few from on here will be on the Tour and chasing the Tour and there are already a few pictures going around of the cars unloading and getting ready.
Personally I cant wait to see the pictures of the F1's, P1 GTR's and P1 LM's; there will be a few surprises, hopefully no incidents and a lot of pictures taken.
Stick your stories / pictures you take / find here to keep them all in the one place :)

Is it a wrap over the original livery or has it been repainted?
It only wore it for one race in 1995 didn't it? Suzuka? Or Zhuhai as well?

Its now ended and stayed in France
Any G reception / Wifi was close to non-existent there, and there was a lot of shots to take by the looks of it, so I'm not too surprised there's not may pictures floating around just now; wait for the jet lag to melt away / phone reception to get back to 1st world levels and I'm sure content will be up

The Impossible Dream.
Finally back home and have had time to think all week a bit more relaxing feelings. It was Huge Honour - privilege to be there all week with these uniq cars. To meet People behind these cars, to meet Legends and of course to meet F1 fans and Mr.McLaren F1 - Peloton25 there. Huge HUGE Honour.
What else...unforgettable week behind me and my lucky friend, who drove from Finland to South France. We got onboard with Simon's #007 right in the Tuesday Morning and second time with #046 on Thursday.
What can I say?
Dreamed to hear That Engine behind my back 25 years, dreamed to experience Magic of F1, Dreamed to follow F1's and GTRs behind, dreamed to see these cars in their natural environment - On The Road.
And really, I know you guys don't believe me, but I cried during following #048 and later #02R those South France's roads. The sight is just so uniq.
Right now I don't know how to thank McLaren F1 Owners Club to giving me that change to be there all week, enjoy the Passion what these cars means to me. More than Life and Words.
Thank You So Much.!
During the week I took over 6000 images, videos of #007 and #046 which you already can find some of them from my IG or Facebook.
I'm Super Gratefull to these owners to let us onboard and get an experience which I will never forget.
Brilliant week. Absolutely stunning week.
McLaren F1 - There is Nothing Like It and Never Will Be.
FULL 10000000% Love to these cars. !

On the mclarenf1ownersclub.com website, we can read "of the 106 cars that were made only 103 remain". Considering that XP1, XP2 and 017 have been destroyed, can we conclude that 004, 010 and 033 are still around ??
carbuilder2002
06-22-2017, 03:48 PM
I suspect that it is referring to the production run of cars not the XP variants as I am sure a few of the production cars have been destroyed granted a very small number.

exactly, so "103 remain" means that only one production car is destroyed.

I don't really keep track of the all the cars anymore, but they've gotten to point in price that it's a smart investment to "rebuild" one from a VIN plate like vintage Ferraris. Other than XP1 and 2, I think any customer car could "resurface" if they throw enough money at it down the line lol. There have been so many advances in technology that it won't be that hard to rebuild parts cheaper than their old fabrication method.

Around 1200 images edited from the Tour. All 6000+ now seen and that quantity is the final quantity from the Tour. Now start to add folders these cars F1's P1's and LMs and so on. And then starts the writing work.
Those who follow Instagram, I have added there some images and stories from the Tour already. Samiaal80 is the name to search for. Hope you Like.
Anyway;
I add these here also, they are already in the video Thread. My own clips of #046 last Driving Day. Arjan was reading book, so it gaved me to change take some images and videos during the stint to Lunch.
Arjan, Thanks to Good Map Reading. It was superb share something this special with you that day.!!!!
I think Clive also enjoyed!

Sorry I'm late here. This past month has been a little crazy in my world and IG has been the only thing I've barely kept up with.
I wouldn't put any confidence in that "103" figure myself. I'm quite certain of 5 F1s that were written off or destroyed out of the 106 total, and suspect we can safely include a 6th. We have discussed them here previously of course - XP1, XP2, 004, 010, 017 are done and gone. Lastly 033 being the suspect one that has never been positively confirmed, but also hasn't been seen since it was delivered and crashed one week later in 1995.

Is 2R owned by Paul Lanzante? I'm watching Goodwood live stream and 2R went up the hill driving by his son Dean.
It looks absolutely stunning in its Ueno livery...can't go wrong with a black '95 GTR and Ueno livery. :) Seeing the BMW V12 LMR, Gulf longtail GTR, and the Ueno F1 GTR all go up the hill in sequence today must have been amazing in person. The S70/2 V12 is a beast.

It's a really good method of not getting bored with your car if you've got spare panels ready to go with a different livery eh?
Looks great in Ueno Clinic colours but I'm glad the Gulf colours are still available if needed.

02R's current owner also has F1 road car chassis 043 - the one painted in Ueno colors. Given what a perfect pairing they make now, I don't think we will see it back in the Gulf livery anytime soon.

#043 looked so good. So Good. The Condition perfect. Low kilometer car and so on. Brilliant. It never was on the road on the Tour, the owner drove #02R all ways if he was on the road. So at least what comes to me, only images of #043 are from Monday.

I did wonder if that might be the connection to inspire the choice. Glad it's with someone who clearly cherishes the cars after all those years hiding away.
My username helps with enjoying the Ueno livery but I do love originality, albeit I know the liveries changed almost on a race to race basis in terms of sponsor stickers, placement, etc.

I think it was definitely the right choice for this car under the circumstances.
Also there is a chance we will see 04R back in the '95 Gulf livery at some point in the future. Not sure there is any hope for that to occur with 08R in the near term as the current owner chose the LM-look it currently wears.

For once I would be torn as having seen 04R in it's current livery I am not sure reverting to Gulf would be a right move especially as it ended it's racing days as it is. Saying that in view of there not being any other 95 Gulf Liveried cars now then it's probably fitting as well. It it were mine I would have a very difficult time deciding.

Yep, I had opportunity to follow #02R during the last driving days stint back to Hotel. There is no words. Remember one speed bumb, after it there was I think 500-600m straight. And then it left...first...second...third....fourth.... Suddenly the small French village heard full Le Mans V12 sound track in the place where you don't expect it........
FULL LOVE TO THESE GTR'S! And Yes, I cried after I heard and saw this.
So long...impossible dream. To follow, to hear, to see..... These cars. More than Life.
