Oil leak

Hello all, I have a 2001 mustang, 3.8 it has about 176000 miles on it, I have a small oil leak and replacing the seal looks like a monster job, I am first going to change to a hi-mileage oil. Do any of you pony enthusiast have any experience with a similar problem....success, failure, any help and or advice is greatly appreciated.
