2009 chevy silverado air bag light

I have 2 trucks 2009 and 2012 Silverado 1 is 4x4 other is not, both regular cab and 4.3...tried 3 scanners solus pro modus all updated. says service air bag, scanners say no communication..reads engine fine but no communication with air bag??? checked both fuses..anything I might be missing?

A regular scanner will not access sirs codes, you need one designed for that. A highline pro unit will.

When you can't communicate, with ANY module, you check for power AND ground to the module, AND you check the data line to it....if those check out ok, then you have a bad module....

If you plan on tinkering with a sir system and dont have proper equipment or training all i have to say is wear ear protection and keep yourself out of the way of where the air bags deploy. That said i agree with tech II. Power and ground first. If both check out then module. On a dif note a scanner of that quality should tell you if there is a circuit fault be it ground or insufficient current.

that is why I tried three different scanners..going to ck out power and ground at module..thanks for info

founf out person owned truck washed out cab of truck a lot ..has cows...spray out cow manure... well located sdm air bag module..all corroded...

not all that common where the module is corroded .. that is why I said it was removed because that is how the bag error you got indicates . people are disabling air bags due to Takata grenade reports .
