Mini Cooper Idea...

I just bought the revell (new version) Mini Cooper and I wanted to run a couple ideas by u guyz before i do anything...
- S2000 nose (not headlites)
- 90's Style MR-2 Taillights
- Everything Shaved
And more when i think of it...Here is a picture of the S-2000 nose in front of the car if someone knows photoshop well can they chop me a pic of it molded to the car thanx...

this kit is one of the worst i have ever made... you will get enugh problem to make a clean job on this kit..

Yeah dude, the S2K nose has gotta go, but the MR2 tailights MIGHT be okay, you're better off making the regular cooper w/ a front lip or something..... The way the mini looks, you could also make it a convertible.. but, it looks like you already did that.... Anyway, good luck on the Mini, oh yeah, don't buy a real one.. It may handle like its on rails, but if you drive you may as well remove you legs:iceslolan

This is the new mini, they aren't that boxy at all...I am gonna do the s2k nose cuz i think it looks hot (it doesn't sit like it looks in those pix) I think with the s2k front it almost looks like the mini has a veilside type kit on it...anyway progress will be started soon so check the other part of the forum later today

if I am invisioning this the same way u are, the s2k front wil look bad, (as in cool) u just gotta cut off that little jut up between the headlights on from the real s2k and cut the sides to be even with the mini body, u get what im saying? it should look good, real good, and if u cut the jut off u should have another grill like on the real mini..........thats jsut my interpretation, were u thinking somewhat the same idea? i wish i had photoshop installed to show u better.

I understand completely what you mean...I was thinkin of leaving that "jut" out and molding it on that way u still have that grill there that the mini's have...I was surprised to find a revell kit with no engine in it...
I am also puttin seats for the tamiya porsche GT3...

well, the nose reminds me of the MG GTB of the '70s. IMO it looks ok, just make it into a roadster or something. :bigthumb:

When I see the nose of the mini I think "Porsche" not "rice"!

Before you get too far into mods check the stance of the car, By stance I mean the amount of daylight under the car. Built stock this kit is very high off the pavement (desktop)... and there's no easy way to bring it down either.

Whatever body work I did would involve stretching the body work down on the front and rear as well as the side skirts. If you plan to swap wheels you should work on that before you get too far in the body mods.
The kit tires are way too wide and the wheels stick out a bit too far as well. They also mount differently than any I can remember seeing.

I'm finishing my first Mini (almost box stock) and starting on my second which will be built as an 'S' with XSTuning wheels.

This kit came from Revell Germany so that may explain that the kit is not quite accurate for a US spec Mini and I believe it was tooled before the car went into production.
As far as problems with the kit the only ones I've seen are poor Chrome parts and the way wide tires. The model fits together well if you use care when you fit the dash and interior side panels together to the main interior piece. :tongue:

Ok thanks for the warning...I am plannin on tryin to completely slam it...maybe i will make my own wheel mounts...:confused:

It's not that simple!

The wheels are quite close to the bottom of the chassis wheel wells with the stock suspension. Put the chassis and interior pieces together with tape, set the body on that and sit the wheel and tire assy in the wheel wells to see what I mean.

I think I am going to shorten the interior, cut out the tops of the wheel wells and lower the suspension pieces AND extend the lower edges of the body to get where I want on my 'S'!

The only easy way I know of to slam this is to cut the tops off the tires and glue them to the inside of the wheel wells!
