radar detectors

im shopping for radar detectors and im hearing that to get a really reliable one, u need to spend about 250-300. is this true. if it is im willing to do it, possibly a passport of even valentine 1 (400), im wondering if anybody has any ideas ona way to get one i can rely on without spending this much money.

you'll save 10x what you spend in lack of traffic tickets. i have the escort passport 8500 and i haven't had a speeding ticket in about a year and a half and i do a good amount of drving and plenty of racing. it picks cops up from well beyond sight range on straight roads and slightly less the more curvey the road gets. it can show up to 8 simultanious different bands at one time not to mention the nice mute button on the on the cigarette lighter adapter. the thing is that the shittier radar detectors set mine off. the passport and valentine are designed not to. i used to have a cobra crappy one thqt i bought for like $100 and it was pretty much useless, once my friend got an escort i had to get one, now all of my friends have them. it's in your best interest to just do it IMO.

What if a cop is using VASCAR? Will their car still emit a signal?

anyone ever used a radar jammer/scrambler or know ppl that have em ? heard anything good or bad bout em ? like if they work........ thier is 2 companies im looking at , Phazer and the Viper II ...... and how illegal are those ? actaully nevermind i dont care :cwm27:

I have a Cobra 9560($150 usd) and it does the job for now although I do like the escorts. Its one of the higher end cobras and it has saved my ass at least a dozen times and also detects cops well out of my sight. If you need one for your daily fast driving+ a little street racing on the side you can't go wrong with the cobra on the other hand if you sreet race 24/7 the escort would be a wise investment.

they're super-illegal. and cops know when you're using them. the radar gun registers some astronomically high number like 200+mph.

what's vascar?

I use a Rocky Mountian Radar jammer, and live in CA. They are illegal here so I try to be careful. I like the jammer because it causes the cops radar systems to show zero speed by giving the radar different speeds so it can't verify an average. They don't show high speed. According the RMR they cops see a zero a lot so its easy to blend in. Though, sometimes I will turn off the jammer once I have slowed down to give the cop a reading. I have had a detector since '91.

I like the jammer and will continue to use it. I think it is the best insurance against a ticket. RMR will pay your tickets in some states. Check it out.
