Buy a new beetle or fix crashed one?

So my girl got a 1999 beetle and she had an accident today.. would it be better to try and fix it or just buy another one? The front was smashed and she said it doesn't want to start. I am not able to help her with it because i'm in another state right now. So I really don't know what to tell her...
