:banghead:I have a 1989 Chevy Silverado 2wd 305. the problem is blower motor on heat and air not working. I replaced the blower motor and still nothing. when I turn on the heater I can feel the heat when I select from defrost to vent I can hear the diverter flaps moving but no fan on any setting low, medium, or high any help is appreciated as it is getting cold again.

because of its age could be anything. the old blower could have blown fuse. I believe there is a fuse just for the blower motor. use a meter check for volts. a wiring diagram would help with this . if you have no luck on finding the loss of volts the resistor assy you could install a fused wire like 20amp and feed the blower resistor assy .then you will have the blower working .. that will give you more time to find the loss of power to blower.

Could be the blower resistor pack as well.

If you have one, not sure about 89's, they are usually on the side of the blower motor assembly on the passenger side.

Edit: Looking on rockauto.com they show a resistor pack for your vehicle, http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/chevrolet,1989,c1500+pickup,5.0l+305cid+v8,1031139 ,heat+&+air+conditioning,blower+motor+control+module+/+resistor,6557. I'd say that's a good possibility.

the resistors are in the air box under the hood passenger side you will see wires going into the firewall blower motor mounted area. should be in there. you replaced the blower should have seen the resistors but they are not probably what you think are resistors since they look like springs. LOL...

Hello there,
I have to agree with J Cat. Mine had the same issue, not sure about if it has the resistor pack or not. If it does I replaced mine, and now has started the same thing. I lost both 4 and 5 fan speeds. I dunno why, but the connections seem to get corroded and stops working. I can take a wire brush or a pocket knife on mine and scratch them up again and it works just fine after that. I can unplug mine and plug right back in and 4 will work again, for a day. If I clean they work for 8 months or so, depending on how clean i get them.

I hope this helps.
If you need anymore info please let me know.

put the dielectric silicone grease on the connector after cleaning .. same stuff used on your spark plug wires .
