Advice on E36 replacement headlights?

Looking through all the aftermarket parts out there, I was wondering how effective replacing an E36 headlight assembly would be.
-Pros and cons of glass vs. plastic lenses?
-Cost?
-Improvement over the old hazy lenses?
-Reputable manufacturers?

I don't need anything fancy, just good performance and reliability. Thanks for your help!:smile:
