Tamiya 1/12 ducati 888

Hi everyone, this is another model I finished in this year' summer vacation.12 scale ducati kit by TAMIYA.I dont dare to ride these kind of two wheels monsters in real life and due to some reasons, its illegal to ride in my city. But I still love vintage Europe bikes, like the K100,GUZZI and NCRs,sadly kits of these models become rare and hard to purchase. So the 888 become the ideal one for my vacation:biggrin:
hard to find some detail kit for the TAMIYA 888 so I just add some normal wires and small PE screw. The original decal ruined at the time it hits water so I used S27's instead.color is finishers' pure red, coat is autoclear.

Hello my friend , very nice your Ducati with lots of nice details .The first photos injustice it where the fairing is a bit down .I want to ask you what technique have you paint the inside grey of front disk brake ? Also the white surfaces of decals of Studio 27 needed something in order to be more white when you put them at the model ? You can find a Ducati 888 of mine at this forum.
Thanks a lot

yes, because I do about the intake ,only two screws are holding the front fairing ,it may moved a bit then the pics were taken :p the inside breaking disc is carbon black paint underneath, then use sponge pen to apply a little bit AV silver on it ,then fix the too shiny area with dark metal color. the decal white is very fade ,I apply the decal first then use it as a template ,cover the red areas and painted foundation white. sorry for my poor english ,hope its clear enough:)
love your 888 too, marvelous work. what sandpaper you sand the tires?looks so smooth

MANOLO7 - first you are incorrect in some of your comments about the praise for this bike build.
You might not be familiar with the AMA National Championship in the USA that spawned so many world champions in both World GP and World Superbike.
Doug Polen did wear #3 on his bike in the 93 AMA National Superbike Championship here in the USA - he achieved that number by finishing 3rd in the 1992 AMA National Superbike Championship.
I see you edited your original comments regarding this Bike build.
If you really believe the bike to be so full of flaws then show us your build of the 888 Ducati
My original praise stands - Excellent work SKUNK

NIRO750 and JOHN18 why must tell lies for a model that I see and not my real opinion; When we expose our model do it to hear the opinion of others. Am I wrong?
John18 after having the petitioners will say again what I said initially so each one to determine if it is a supermodel or a medium model.
The DUG POLEN ever donning the number 3 with this bike.
The fairing hanging in wrong position.
Handlebars have been inserted upside down.
The back light is inserted upside down.
The carbon decal on front and back fender is not right for this motorcycle.
The individual parts of the bike are badpaint.
The tubes of the brake is too large for the scale.
Also I would like to a model like this that has enough IMPROVE Detailed not see the screws of tamiya.
And more..
John18. Sorry, I did not know that to say my opinion ought to have a model 888 to show you.(The truth is that I have dealt fairly with the
888 and a good model 888 but I think right that would not show it now.)
also I would like to show me a picture of POLEN with 3 as you say.
SKUNK CHAO know that we highly appreciate your efforts in this difficult model and I apologize for all of this.

Sorry for my English level first...hope words below do not have some big grammar issues that disturb reading:runaround:
This model do have some flaws and incorrect places .I did little lookup about the bike’s info so details get wrong in this model.I ll do more work before making next kit and study racing history about the subject as well.Thank you for listing these incorrect places ,I would attention detail scale and CF pattern more in future modeling:smooch:
About flaws...I think it disturbing and inevitable for me now.I ve just entered this field and still have much to learn.During making this bike I come across lots of troubles and have to make some parts again.I think its important to finish a kit,and solve flaw problem one by one in building next one for a beginner. Focus to build a flawless model may kills a green hands’ enthusiasm.:p
And a model good or not is not judged by just a web’s point or what.Modeling is a hobby and intend to make us happy.Enjoy the build process and enjoy the end product. It might a bit far that quarrel with other for a comment below a post or a attitude towards a finished kit.
Thank you for posting errors and flaws still.Look forward to your thread sharing your work:smooch:

thanks for praise and it ok to say a models drawbacks, this bike do have flaws and I ll improve my skills in future:licka:
You might not be familiar with the AMA National Championship in the USA that spawned so many world champions in both World GP and World Superbike.
Doug Polen did wear #3 on his bike in the 93 AMA National Superbike Championship here in the USA - he achieved that number by finishing 3rd in the 1992 AMA National Superbike Championship.
I see you edited your original comments regarding this Bike build.
If you really believe the bike to be so full of flaws then show us your build of the 888 Ducati
My original praise stands - Excellent work SKUNK
Cheers
John

SKUNK - you made an exceptional point with your comment that - model building is for the enjoyment of the hobby and the pleasure of building a model whether it is a builder's interpretation or an accurate scale replica for a given rider and race.
The thing is to enjoy what you are building and the AF forum is to share that building experience with others on the forum.
Sharing how you build or detail or paint your model build is what the WIP is for so that we can share our skills with others and learn skills that others post.
SKUNK - keep building your models the way you want to - as long as you enjoy it
Cheers
