Help want to run mid to high 14's

Look here i have a 4dr LX A/t yea yea i know not a very god base to start with but anyway i was wondering is it possible to get into highor mids 14's with out doing an H22 swap and come on i want people who can help me and not to diss on the Lx A/t got a baby on the way so i will need thw extra room so any help with out saying JDM 22 swap or should have got a m/t will be helpful thanx

Cheapest way it to set up a 50 shot of nitrous. That'll get you there, but if I were you, I would forget about getting the car into the 14s and save up for the upcoming minivan :wink: :biggrin2:

I hear ya Yogs. I've got one now and it was well worth the investment.

Yeah, Nitrous and pull that spare out and get a can of fix-a-flat. You can go and see these guys http://www.nextlevelracing.com for an affordable mod to your IAT (intake air temperature) sensor. Then, for more serious projects, port and polish, Wiseco Pistons and Pauter rods, a good camshaft (Gude.com has one) airintake, catback system from magnaflo, hmmm...that's just for starters. Get a tune up too with decent plugs and wires. Get a good Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator and a fuel/air ratio gauge to help stoich you out.

That's just a start. Maybe even put an external oil cooler and better radiator. Get, lighter rims but keep your stock rim diameter with lower profile tires. Tires don't have to be the expensive. Try Yokohamas. Lighten that car without uglifying it. Those are some suggestions off the top of my head at the moment.

another thing you can try that's affordable is go to a salvage shop and get an exhaust manifold off of an EX model plus it's downpipe and replace your LX's with them. the LX have 1 to 1 down where the EX and SE models have a 2 to 1 for better exhaust management. That'll help your car exhale easier.

What year is your Accord anyway?

i dunno if a 50 shot will even get u there. considering its a high 16-low 17 second car stock, i doubt that will take off nearly 2 seconds.

but it is a start atleast.

i do agree that'd be the cheapest way to get a little bit more respectable, add i/h/e/cams/weight reduction an ur pretty close to low 15's....might break into 14's w/ a nice enough pass (driving-wise)

my car is a 2001 accord yea i guess 14's is pushing it a bit so low 15's will do yea already have AEM SRI (short ram) and i think i will try to find and ex or se's model's exhaust manifold sounds likea good idea oh and by the my girl has a SUV so baby wil be fine and what kind of cams do you suggest Krnx and Dr.okka does that thing really work from the link and do you know where i can get a good price on a nos system and should i get dry or wet sorry for all the questions about nos i know alot about it it's just i WAS a DSM onwer but I like accords so it's now in the drive way chllin

The basic difference between dry and wet NOS applications is dry introduces NOS only into the intake where as the wet system introduces a mixture of both NOS and Fuel through the same nozzle. Wet is for the more forced induction system where as dry would be better suited for your application. Now there is also the direct port system where Nitrous and Fuel are introduced into the actual combustion chambers. This is definitely more powerful and better concentrated but not recommended for naturally aspirated engines. Save that for when you've beefed up your pistons and rods and given it a healthy turbo. Hope that elementary explanation helps.

Now, where to get a starting NOS system, let's see, check out Ebay for any ZEX or NX Express systems. There's this guy who's got some swell prices on both brands of stage 1 Nitrous kits: when you see him let him know that Dr.Okka recommended you see him.Import Car Parts Plus (http://www.importcarpartsplus.com)

Oh yeah, as for that IAT sensor mod it helps trick your ECU into feeding more fuel into the chambers by intercepting and relaying a lower temp reading. They have a 3 setting module which will definitely help a NOS driven system. I noticed gains in my accord with it. When I put higher octane fuel in my car and put it on the more aggressive setting it moves and that's without NOS.

As for camshafts I don't have a performance 1 myself yet but you can contact ENDYN (http://www.theoldone.com) and they may be able to help you with your stock cam by welding and milling it giving it more sturdiness and higher lift. GUDE (http://www.gude.com) has racing cams for Accords as well.

high 14's really is not to big of a goal, but it does depend on how much money you want to spend. And i definately would not recommend introducing NOS into a motor without replacing your internals(pistons, rods, valves, valve springs, camshaft) that kind of a boost can cause a valve to break. since you already have the intake, then just start moving your way down, instead of getting another cast iron manifold, find yourself a good set of SS headers they weigh about a fourth of the stock manifold, then go with a high flow cat, and a cat-back exhaust. then move back up to your combustion, get a new ignition system, holley makes a great one, larger spark plugs, and if you want to spend the money NGK Iridium plugs(about 11 bucks a piece), then get a whole new fuel delivery system, pump, lines, high flow rail, pressure regulator, injectors. then go to the drivetrain, with the AT JMO does a good conversion for the torque converter reducing power loss to the wheels by half over the stock. price range for all that your looking at just over 3 grand, but you will have your 14's.

thanks this was all very help fulland i think i will lok intothat IAT sensor that sounds like a good buy but this was all helpful in to finding myway into 14's yall we really helpful thanx to all who help and it's i'm kinda shocked to see that no one put in ( get a better base and go with the swap) but anyway thanx to all who help i'll post later after so mods have been done

I would have to respectfully disagree 97. You can safely introduce NOS to a stock Honda Engine. They're good from the factory. Now I wouldn't exceed 7-8 psi boost and 50shot. 9, 10 psi would keep me worried and anticipating engine break down without better innards. You're fine with sipping some NOS just no big gulps. Not yet at least until you popeye your powerplant.

Have you kept up on the regular maintenance? No problems or knocking that you know of? As far as you can tell, the engine runs well? 50 should be fine. It's when you start getting a little generous with it and the boost. Start out at a conservative level. If you think you can increase it do so a little at a time to where you're comfortable but NOT crazy. You want to know your limitations better. Back off on it if you notice a hint of a problem.

Remember your limitations and know where you're going. You'll spend less $$$ and heartache.

The more you work the engine that hard viscosity break down rate increases. You know, the law of thermal dynamics.

Yea i know the law Dr.Okka but the engine has been running fine i'm feeding it 93 octane for 2 months now and already had like 3 tune up to make sure every things going right and yea you have a point about using the nos i must fight it i must but then again what the hell gotta go now
