Just about the most exciting news I could possibly think of finally surfaced yesterday. The new owner of LM2 has agreed to allow McLaren Philadelphia to display his car in their showroom for the next few weeks. If you have any chance of finding your way there, I would not hesitate! :runaround:

Excellent news!! Hopefully you are not the only one here who benefits from this announcement and the amazing opportunity it presents for so many people to witness an automotive unicorn in the carbon.

I'm also planning to jump at the chance, but not exactly certain on when just yet. My jump is just a little bit further than your convenient 100 mile journey. ;)

Saw it! I got there over an hour early! Took a bunch of pics with my DSLR will upload when I get back to Maryland. I'm at the Simeone museum checking out their Ford GT40s, 917, 8C, Ferrari TR. Jag D type etc.

McLaren dealer said the car was going to be there rest of this month, but owner may take it back anytime.

There were half a dozen other people that showed up when the dealer opened. I left after 30 mins. You can donate to a charity the owner selected at the dealer. For $25 I got to sign the rear wing of a new GT3 RS at their Porsche dealer down the road.

The 250 GTO at the museum is coming back from Nashville next week. I may have to come back up. ;)

Pics! I have a cell phone walk-around video, but the quality is not nearly as good as my DSLR photos and the audio is atrocious due to a software issue so I'm not posting that.

And that's the GT3 RS I got to sign (I picked the rear wing) since I donated to the charity LM2's owner selected. Don't worry, the car is clear bra'd all over so no damage done.

All my photos found here, which are available to download in full-res. I unfortunately didn't bring my zoom lens on this trip, but I tried getting some closeups of things like what tire sizes the car had front and rear (it's not like I was trying to frame the entire rim and did a poor job). ;)

Awesome - I've been getting pinged all day long from people thanking me for making the announcement. I hope the dealership was prepared for the onslaught of visitors as the message of its presence there did not take too long to spread far and wide. Love that so many people are getting such an awesome opportunity - all thanks to the wonderful owner!

Erik, I owe you BIG time.

The Simeone Museum was fantastic. I had a great time looking at the LM and talking with the McLaren of Philadelphia staff (very very nice people), but the Simeone experience blew it out of the water. I know this is a McLaren forum, but as a car enthusiast that place is unreal. I can't believe the rolling art they have on display there and thanks again for letting me know it was one of their rare demo days.

Dr. Simeone in his Alfa!

And his Bugatti :)

That's great you were able to do both - I was in Philly in mid-2015 for five days and didn't have time to do either one. :(

Really excited to see all of this for myself, however, I doubt I'll be able to time my trip to coincide with a demo day at Simeone. Oh well - it will still be AMAZING!

Hopefully the dealer gets large crowds that in turn donate to their charity while visiting.

It's for this cause: http://nayafoundation.org

If anyone that takes the time to see the LM also donates, they'll raise a lot of money. Please spread the word for those on the fence on going out of the way to see it. It's got a good cause. :)

I am taking a pilgramage to see my first McLaren F1 next Thursday. I can't expalin the elation I am feeling right now...I have been dreaming about seeing one in the flesh since i first discovered (which would have been about 1995) the wonder of engineering that is the F1! The fact that it is an LM is icing on the cake, especially since my bedroom wall porn was the McLaren F1 LM poster with a front view of the car speeding down a tree lined lane! Thanks for the info Erik i don't think I will ever be able to repay!

That's awesome news - again I am so glad that other people who've been such great contributors here for so many years are having the chance to benefit from this car's appearance.

While I appreciate your gratitude, and was pleased to be able to be the one to broadcast this news to the world, all thanks are really due the LM's owner who is the one whose generosity here is bringing dreams to reality.

You are correct sir, the car's owner that is kind enough to display it is making a 33 year old mans dream come true. That being said i would not have know about the amazingly generous owner if it were not for you. Since you obviously have my thanks, if you know the owner in any way can you pass along my sincerest gratitude for his generosity.

The Simeone Museum was fantastic.

I know you were considering a return trip to see the GTO, and the museum had suggested it would be coming back, but I wanted to alert you that after leaving the Frist in Nashville it has ended up at Atlanta airport's air cargo facility and is palletized for a trip to destinations unknown...?

Cool shot, thanks! I fly out of Maryland tomorrow so I'll have to catch it in 2017 when I'm back (if the car goes back to Simeone's collection). :)

Did you get a chance to see the LM or are you able to get there this month?

I took the 6 hour drive to see the car this past Thursday and Friday. I cannot tell you how amazing it is to see this car in person. It is small in person, yet larger than life. What made the trip particularly enjoyable was the staff at McLaren Philadelphia. They were very kind and welcoming. If you get the opportunity to see this car in person I would highly recommend it. Please not however, the staff did share a a few horror stories with me about people not respecting the car or the dealership, please be sure you are on your best behavior when there, after all they are being very generous with the open door policy for viewing the car.

I would also like the owner to know how grateful I am that he/she was willing to display the car for so many people to view. The owner is the real hero here!

I took a bunch of pictures, although the lighting was not particularly good, i did get this one shot that i think looks pretty cool!

Glad you saw it! I'm sorry to hear some visitors were disrespectful. McLaren of Philadelphia were incredibly kind when I visited and am disappointed some didn't treat them with the same respect they gave others.

Erik, I hope the wait to see the LM later turns out to be a fantastic decision. :)

Apparently the 250 GTO is for sale at Talacrest for $56 million. Guess it was at ATL on its way to the UK...
