Hello everyone, I'm new here. But anyways, I have 1989 Ford escort lx hatchback. It has the 1.9 motor with a 3spd auto tranny(I hate this fact..honestly the only thing I hate about the car). Lately I have been tossing around the idea of putting a 302 in it and converting it to rear wheel drive, and crossing over to a 5spd standard. Unless I can do a good cosworth motor/tranny to put in it. How hard is it going to be to swap from the 3spd auto to a 5spd standard? Also, what all would I have to change to put said cosworth motor in??

I think it would be an enormous job. I would think of it as rebuilding the car around the RWD driveline, not so much installing the RWD driveline into the car. There is a gent that I -think- is trying to do about the same thing, at feoa.net. You have to join to put up posts, but its free.
