2000 Yukon Steering Column collar replacement

Howdy folks. I have a 2000 Yukon SLT. The black plastic collar (top and bottom) that covers the steering column in my Yuke is cracked and I need to replace it. Must I remove the steering wheel to complete this job?

I watched a video by A1 Auto replacing a turn signal and it looks like there are torx nuts on the underside plastic piece which wouldn't require removing the steering wheel but then it looks like there are more bolts that are screwed into the underside of the top plastic piece that I'm not certain I can get to unless I remove the steering wheel. Any advice/guidance (or a video!) would be appreciated.

Well, guess I figured it out myself. Didn't have to take the wheel off. Just unscrewed the two torx screws on the bottom piece and it falls off. Then I cracked the top off to realize that there is one screw holding it in on the right underside closest to the driver. Getting the new pieces back in took a bit but finally they snapped together. Success!

Now, anyone know why I might be having a water leak under my front driver's side mat? I noticed the moisture while working there!

Glad you got the column cover figured out. As far as the leak, it could be a door seal, windshield seal, or, if you have a sunroof, it could be a drain issue with it. Water leaks can be very hard to identify. Could also be a plugged A/C drain.
