2007 Silverado, v/8 4.8 litre, miles = 97,000.
front windows don,t always go up or down.

What version windows? I've had trouble ever since XP was phased out.
Sorry - I had to.
Do the windows operate from the master control panel at all? What about the passenger side switch? The Alps switch panel in the master position is susceptible to contact problems if it has been wet. Both the lockout switch and master switch contacts are suspect.
It will be more difficult to diagnose if the problem is intermittent, but the first thing to do is verify supply voltage while the problem is occurring. The BCM may also be involved, including any door modules. If the master switch is replaced there may be BCM reprogramming involved.

with the newer silverado /GM trucks the window switches fail.
you probably already fixed it.
on the older models the motors go bad . limiter is inside the motor this fails.
