Front AC not working but rear works

Hi folks, new member here with a 2005 Tahoe LS. Recently I noticed the front AC blows warm air out the vents (the dash vents) when the AC is turned on, and it sounds like the compressor is engaging. I thought it maybe was low on refrigerant but that level checked out fine. The odd thing is the rear AC blows ice cold (from the roof vents) when I turn on the AC on the overhead (rear) controls. I also notice a little squeak from the AC drive belt when I first start the Tahoe, especially after it rains (odd). Not sure if that is related to this or just a separate issue. The belt is still on and intact.
Is this a common issue for these Tahoes, and does anyone have advice on a fix?
Thanks very much for any info,
Scott

Scott: Welcome to AF. Your issue sounds like a problem with the temp control door in the front unit.
Can you switch the front from dash to floor or in between? If not it may be a BCM or front controller issue.
Some have done a BCM reset by disconnecting the battery neg cable for 10-15 mins, but this can cause other glitches in the electrical system.

Thanks for the response- yes I can switch the vent position that works fine. Blows warm with AC on in any position. I recently installed a stereo in the Tahoe and had the battery negative disconnected several times over a few different days, I wonder if that may have screwed something up...
