I started out attempting to repair my fender to ground wire. I ended up doubling its size. I also added a second wire from the alt. straight to the battery.
I needed some tools from my house so I closed down my hood to safety latch and in doing so I caused a short. one good enough to burn the shield off my new ground. so once again I replaced it, its charging better than ever, everything seems to work perfect except:
>My red brake light is on now, (second to brightest for those who get it) I push the EB, it brightens some. It will not reset in any way. The usual "unplug tests" do no good. Further, the yellow (ABS) light came on over the winter, the pump stopped its (test mode) one day but I left it alone. For reference, both back wheels use the trans speed sensor for rear reference and L&R front speed sensors monitor front. Rear tires are two inches taller (ABS LIGHT?)
My focus is this red light. I did notice while looking for short damage the emergency brake pedal assembly was very hot. I found no damage but that's the path the ground took. When I hook up a jumper to code test the brakes, the ABS activates its self test "which it hasn't done in months: but the codes seem to be odd and random. Any wiring or "seen that" info appreciated. Im going to start by replacing the brake light switch and searching for grounds near the EB pedal. any ideas before I blow up my wallet?

Post back what your inspection shows with burnt wires around the break pedal. Was any fuses or fuseable link blown?

The only burnt wire was between the fender and battery. no links or fuses blown.
If I unplug the ABS the red light goes out until I press the ebrake. The speed sensor took no obvious damage but I wonder if the vss buffer died. the speedo works but that doesn't mean its communicating with the abs..Guess I will check its power and pull the lid off the abs unit. check components and connections.
