higher psi=faster?

If you are getting higher psi does that mean your have more power as in faster? and wat exactly does the factory boost controller DO?
does it limit my psi ? if so, if I do mods on my car will it limit the max psi? Im a begginer at this so plz bare with me .. :)

Higher PSI generally means more air into the engine. If the appropriate increase of fuel is injected into your cylinders, then the engine is producing more power.

As pressure increases, however, the air gets hotter and less dense.

Boost controllers control operation of the wastegate - a valve, when opened, bypasses exhaust gas flow around the turbo, thus preventing the turbo from generating more boost.

Most modifications only create potential for more power. The only real way to make more power IMO is a tuned ECU...

....sorry to ramble on dudes, but it's a valid point....you don't need to touch the ECU to see (and feel) real power gains....

Holy shit mincemeat, and all this time people have been imagining the hp gains from exhausts, intakes, more psi, more fuel, higher compression, aftermarket cams, head work, and bigger intercoolers!!!!!!
Ah cos they only create POTENTIAL for more power, silly me.

If I interperet your question correctly... I am thinking that you are asking if higher boost (psi) not only creates more power, but brings the power on at a faster rate?

If so, the answer is... maybe.
If you are toying with a bleed valve type solution then you'll find that the more you increase boost pressure... the later the wastegate will begin to creep open... therefore bringing the boost on slightly faster.

If its a decent electronic system then as far as I am aware, it holds the wastegate closed until the very last moment anyway.. regardless of boost pressure.

Sounds good. Bleeding or bending your actuator will work in small amounts, I am bleeding 14psi and it helps and certainly makes me alot faster!

but you can add more boost, but as soon as it pings.. you will be loosing power..
