I have a Mitsubishi Space which has a thin hose running down the drivers side underneath the carpet, parallel to the fuel door cable, which has a crack in it and is leaking oil. The oil is a clear yellowish colour. Is it brake fluid for the rear brakes? If not any ideas what it is? Would like to try and fix myself if possible...

Under the carpet inside the car? That's seems like a peculiar location for a brake line, but brake fluid (like most other types of hydraulic fluid) is a clear yellowish color.

Do you have a rear wiper?- if in a hose it may be rear wiper washer fluid- which would be easy to fix--just cut out the bad section and splice in new hose.

I've never seen brake lines be rubber inside a car- they are always steel and under the car...
