What type of engine is the 97 Honda Accord LX H22B? Is it worth modifying the engine? This would be a low budget project, or would I need to swap the engine, and replace it with what?

My buddy has a turbocharged '99 LX with over 400 horsepower. Of course that's not very low budget but just showing that it does have potential. With Hondas, go big or don't go at all, because your car sure won't. You could spend about a grand on intake/header/exhaust for like 10 horsepower, then get pulleys/adjustable cam gears for about $600 and gain another 10-15 horsepower... etc. Catch my drift? Get a new engine and you'll be a happy Accord owner. The Accord Euro-R 220 hp powerplant would be a tasty upgrade for about $4,800 :).

Yeah and a huge list of mods/dynotunes to get it running properly. That $2999 could turn into an ugly number quickly.

:bigthumb: "disclaimer" (bare with me on the lingo) What I am going to end up doing is boring out the engine to 40 thousands new pistons and largest performance cam the 40 thousands can take, have the heads redone, beef up the injectors, larger fuel rail, msd ignition system, run w/either Nology or Accel wires and plugs, DC header, complete exhuast, either V2 or cold air intake from AEM, the Venom adapter, and new performance chip. The cam gears are an option I may purchase or not. Granted this might run about 3k but I will have my own powerplant built by myself with having to spend 5k on a new engine or 3k on only a turbo kit needing more engine mods to make that turbo run right. So I decided to start from scratch this being my first project car, I'll start from the basics and make it my own. Living in SA,TX theres not that many euro car clubs or hardcore import racers that by beefing up my engine this way will be able to win a few shots hee and there.

Hope this take provides any info to anyone.
