2016 Corvette Racing C7R

This is the new Revell C7R due out at the end of the summer. The kit builds the 2014/15 car, but has the 2016 livery. I updated the body and added 24 hours of track wear.

great model and very interesting subject. I personally didnt know of this news from revell. Surely will buy one or more. Thanks for posting.

Nice job on the C 7-R and I enjoyed seeing it in person at the NNL East this past weekend. We were talking about the kit and if I recall you mentioned that it's a different yellow than the C 6 -R. What's the correct yellow paint for this kit?

Jim, the C6R's were Velocity Yellow. The first two years with the C7R the cars were also Velocity. The new color for 2016 is called Corvette Racing Yellow.

Nice! I was at the IMSA race in Long Beach this past weekend and saw these cars driving in anger in person. So loud and beautiful! I may have to pick up one of these kits.

I had heard of this from a few people as Revell is right here in the Chicago area. I am sure it is 1/25th again as people at the Ferrari Expo last March told me it was. Otherwise a nice looking model that I will put a Carrera 1/24th body and wheels on when I get it. Also Pattos Place makes decals for this car, and they are not bad. I'm sure Studio 27 and others will also make decals.

Check with Gravity Paints... He may have it in stock now. His stuff is airbrush only.

I have the Carrera 1/24th scale slot car and it's quite a bit bigger. You'd need to do a lot of chassis work to get the body to fit right... Especially if you wanted to open the hood to see the engine. I also have some of Patto's more recent decals and I think he changed his ink again. No matter what clear I use with them, they wrinkle something awful.

do u mean pattos decals are not so good as they look? I have some just arrived...scared to use now..

The last few times I've used Patto's, they reacted with the clear coat. I used Tamiya semi gloss clear over one, it started to melt. I also had a similar situation with 2 part urethane clear. I've used Patto's before, several times, but the last few sheets seemed to be different. That's why I mentioned the ink he uses...

No, I did the aero updates. The model will be the 2014/15 car but have the 2016 livery.

That's a pitty the Revell kit won't match the car and the livery, even if I don't doubt there will be aftermarket decals.

I have couple sets of his newer decals, bought last year. One is for the C7R and with both sets I was instructed not to use normal clears as they would eat the decals. It was suggested to use Finish floor wax. I haven't tried yet, as I am still working on the body mods as I started mine before both the Carrera body and Revell's C7R were announced. I'm certain it was mentioned on Patto's page somewhere to use the Finish floor wax on the decals and not normal clear.

Carrera is doing the new Ford GT race car. I havent heard of anyone else doing one as of yet.
