EGI relay

After my son replaced his starter on his V-6 626 the car started and ran then quit.
when I arrived and began checking his work and testing wires and connections I discovered the black/yellow wire to the EGI relay was receiving intermittent power.
Has anyone seen this before and where did the problem occur?
I'm leaning toward a broken wire in the loom somewhere from him yanking the starter out.:nono:
It is in a tight spot.
Or a ground problem.
