Left over bolt from lim replacement

Hi, I changed the lower intake manifold gasket on my girlfriends 06 grand prix and I have a left over bolt that i cant remember where it goes. Heres what i can tell you about the bolt. Its black with red on the head, 14mm and the only 14mm that got pulled. Its got dirt on the head and is about 3-3 1/2 inches long, has a coarse thread and is a grade 8 bolt. Its what i do believe they call a shoulder bolt. The threads only go up like a third of the way. Ive been trying to find where it goes. Ive searched and searched and searched some more on the engine and google. Going on day 3 now, feeling really dumb and could really use some help. Anybody have any idea? Thanks.

Take a look at a mechanics bench top sometime--talk about left over bolts and screws! They all have them- tons of them- so don't feel bad. It happens to the best of us.

Yeah, I tend to get worried if I don't have bolts left over. LOL

Well thanks for the reassurance. Since i took most of it back apart I guess I'll put it back together and hope for the best. Thanks.

When taking engines apart, I got in the habit of putting the bolts into a huge sectioned tray.....then when putting back together you start with the last section and work your way back.....once you have done this a few times, you basically know where all the bolts go.....but, when working on an engine for the first time, it is a good idea...

There are times I have used a piece of cardboard. Rough sketch of what I'm working on. Then just punch some holes in it and put the bolts there.
