I'm racing a G5 maxima in mid August. It's a stock '03 SE w/auto, fully loaded.
I got a '97 5-5peed, its factory loaded w/Bose, leather, sunroof, etc.. The aftermarket products include a CAI w/K&N filter, FTSB, lightweight pulley, Autometer tach w/light, toyo proxess' and styling mods like lights/etc.. i'll also get a warpspeed y-pipe, springs, and a cat-back before the race...
I'll have curb weight advantage and the performance mods should make up for the the moderate hp difference (190 and 255) to make it a fair race.

Anyone got any predictions of the outcome???

you might take him since he's auto. but i had a 95 se 5 speed max with weapon-R intake, stillen cat-back and budget y pipe and my new 02 (6spd) is definitely a good deal faster, especially on the top end.

and so you know the 3.5 5th gens are really 5-1/2 generation. you'll eat a 3.0 5th gen max alive.

i voted tie cuz nissan auto tranny's suck

uh, yeah, with all those mods, as long as you don't smoke the hell out of the tires, which you shouldn't with your toyo's, you'll take him. solid, strong launch and he will be eating your ass :naughty:

You know this post was actually made a long time ago (well not this one but the same damn topic) anyway, we proved that it depended on what type of race you were talking about.

From standing start it would be 4th gen, from a roll it would be 5th gen and neither one would be a total wipe out, it'll be damn close and should one catch the other sleeping or don't know how to drive be it auto or manual the other is history.

Do a search next time before asking these kind of questions here, this has already been done before.

Also it is pretty sad when us (Max owner's) have to start comparing ourselves to one another's gen just to have some decent competition.
I really hate these Max vs Max, Nissan vs Nissan or Altima vs Maxima threads, sheesh, give it a break already.
