Hi everyone,
It's been a long time between kits. Family life at the moment is restricting my hobby time, but that's the beauty of a hobby, it can stop and go.
So for my first kit of 2016, I'm going to give kit bashing a go. This idea has been rolling in my head for a long time, but thanks to instagram the desire to actually do this has finally come to a boiling point and today I brought the second kit to make this happen.
So, I had the NSR250 kit for a long time sitting in my cupboard and I have already built this kit before. I was originally intending to build this kit OOB as the first kit I did it in full carbon fibre as if it was a test bike. Nah, this should be more fun.
I was surprised with how easy this has gone in the mock up stages, I was expecting a lot shimming and bodging to get the wheels to fit. But it just went together so easy!
Even my new labourer was surprised.

Alright, bit of an update.
Filled the sinks and mold holes on the exhaust.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160216/98bf5f9af650c77578b40e3a5a70f4fb.jpg
Ignore the blob on the left, I was trying to cast an intercooler with Oyumaru and the left over putty.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160216/4be347d3dae13bc4a2f240c5ef450ff9.jpg
Then removed the horrible seam lines and chrome off the forks and swing arm.

Then I went about cutting the caliper off the NSR fork and grafting onto the CR fork.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160216/55954ab6f566ee09358490fbe9e34a9b.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160216/cd7ad53c66a5d1d157e71043b47de539.jpg
Just gotta sand the exhaust and then ready for priming.

Not much of an update, but I thought I'd keep it going.
Primed all the parts and ready to get some colour on, although I have to wait for two colors as the local hobby shop is out of what I want. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160221/23a32bf91ce1c44fdd587135c51cfefc.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160221/f278f47cfa28f23da06177e5851d4967.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160221/5cba4bd717423eb4d105a65e4b77f085.jpg

Now that's what I call a painting session !
Looking good so far, don't think I've ever seen anybody do the motard to a kit yet.

Not much of an update, being summer it's rather hot and motivation after work is low. But having a food dehydrator stops me using the "the weather isn't good for painting" excuse when it's raining lol.

I've sanded the rear tire to give that ridden look
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160228/8821c95ce6a083f72fa0a78490873ad1.jpg
Now I've finished with the white paint I will now paint parts with Alclad black base for the polished alloy parts. And I've black primed the engine parts for Alclad metal paints.

Been a busy week, got the Alclad coats on and assembled the engine.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160304/ceb1c6b82eb87e9382a81e6d1167a582.jpg
Engine together before panel wash.
To help others with this kit, I suggest drilling out the marked holes with a 1mm drill to make life easier when putting it in the frame.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160304/12d579e50848ffe9f758513052f1773d.jpg
Then fitted the carb, water pump, hoses and cables.
Tried using bare metal foil for hose clamps, but it doesn't stick to well to the hoses. Any suggestions?

Looks good I really like that wash you have done on the radiator.
As for the BMF, its possible there is some oily residue on the tubing, if thats the case then wipe it down with some IPA or alcohol wipes and then it should stick better. If that doesnt help then using some white PVA glue or BMF adhesive should work

Cheers for tip imster, will remember that.
Got a fair bit done this week.
Mounted the motor into the frame and had to see what the swingarm looked like.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160311/5588245c4ca5e15d58c4c746841b6547.jpg
Also, the Mr Hobby fluro paints arrived from BNA model. Very impressed with their service. The photo does not do the paint justice, it's so bright!
I've even managed to get the decals on and they are ready for a clear coat.
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160311/d53b562d50aaa23fe60fe758e146379d.jpg
I tried Humbrol liquid mask on the chain and sprockets. And that worked really well too.

So it's been a productive week for me. 😄👍🏻

See that white styrene tube in front of the bike, that's gonna be the pod filter for it.
Also, I should've checked the fit of the radiator shrouds on the tank. The left side was horrible 😫
