Need help w/ wiring and amp selection

I recently acquired 2 10" Rockford Fosgate HE2's DVC 2-ohm subwoofers from a friend. My question is this. How would I wire these together and to an amp? And what kind of amp would I need to sufficiently power these subwoofers? I get confused easily when attempting to understand the complexities of wiring the DVC's in particular. I'm sure there are multiple ways of wiring these, but since I'm not really all that savvy when it comes to this stuff so I'll probably just take the most affordable and easy to understand solution offered. 400 x 2 @ 2-ohms

When you wire the subs, you go from the positive of one side to the positive of the opposite side, this wires the sub to 2-ohms. If you wire from the positive of one side to the negative of the other, this wires the sub to 8-ohms.

I assume you have a box? well, run positive on the sub to postive on the box to positive on the amp, run negative on the sub to negative on the box to negative on the amp. You have to wire both voice coils.

Sorry Haibane, but the problem with that amp is that it could possibly blow his speakers or not get enough power to them. With his subs and the wiring required with that amp, he could either wire his subs to 8-ohms and bridge them to 4-ohms only giving him 400 x 1, or 200 x 2 giving him only 200 per speaker. Or he could wire his subs to 2-ohms, and bridge them to 1-ohm giving 1200 x 1 or 600 x 2, this would mess up his speakers, since it only takes 400 continuously.

AirAllen01: the subwoofers have dual two ohm coils, not dual four ohm.
Dave Rod: If you wire the coils in series, and then parallelle wire the subs, you would get a two ohm load.
I'm not sure on the power ratings of your sub, I've heard both 250w and 400w RMS, could you check this?
Anyway, if you're looking for cheap power, you can't go wrong with a JBL 1200.1, usually puts out in excess of 1400 watts, so watch your gains, and you should get a subsonic filter if you are using a ported enclosure.

Deakins: According to Rockford Fosgate the sub is dual 4-ohms. Research before you give advice please (Not being rude, I promise). :smile: Also, according to Rockford, they are 400 watts RMS, 800 watts Peak.

How many 10" HE2s does Rockford produce? Three, the FFS1024, the RFP4110 and the RFP4210. Out of the three, only the RFP4110 have a two ohm DVC like Dave Rod said. Assuming the sub is newish.

Thanks for all the help so far, I really appreciate it. I've been out of country for a while, so I wasn't able to respond sooner. In my original post I incorrectly said that I had 2 DVC 2-ohm RF HE2's (RFP4110). In actuality what I have are 2 4-ohm DVC Rockford HE2's (RFP4210). I've wired the woofers so that it presents a 1-ohm load for the amp. The power rating for the woofers are 400W RMS. I don't know if this is per coil or what. So that's why I'm confused. My question is how much power should the amp provide for optimal performance, given this particular wiring config? Do I just match the total RMS wattage from the speakers to the amp's rating or what?

Most are not rated per coil, if they are 400 each, then it would need an 800 watt amp at 1 ohm
