1994 V6 Question on engine swap

Well, i got a 1994 v6 3.4l I know that its not the best choice, but for a 16 year old with a limited bank account, it was perfect. Got it for 5000$ with only 82000 miles. Truly a beauty in perfect shape. BUT.... beign a male, i need mroe power! I dont want to start modifying anything to teh car until ig et some input from experts such as yourselves. I want to drop in a v8 if possible and then modify that rather than modify the v6 and later down teh road end up regretting putting the money into it and selling the car alltogether and getting a v8. So, can it be done? can i put a v8 in there? what kind would fit, wat are some prices? r should i just go ahead and start modify my intake, exhaust, suspension and all the other parts of my beautiful car to coincide with the v6? Any and ALL opinions are appreciated, thanx -chris

well, a small block will fit but ya gotta remember that a V8 is heavier than a V6 so your gonna have to beef up the front end. Also ya gotta think about how your gonna make this work cause your computer is set up to run 6 cylinders not 8. if you were switching from a small block to a bigger small block, no problem. Also I can't remember, but the motor mounts might not be in the same location, so you might have to get adapters. And i don't know what kinda tranny you've got, but chances are that your torque converter isn't going to bolt up to a small block flywheel. You might be better off just getting a car with a V8, might be cheeper.

ya, i was thinking that, but i did the amth and its cheaper to not buy a v8 car, b/c my insurance with the v6 is already 2200 a year, and with a v8 its almost double that.... i dont know y its so high, but being a 16 y/o male and this being ym first car has something to do with it :P

ya, us males get screwed when it comes to insurance. Supposedly women are better drivers, so they get lower insurance. I tend do disagree. As for your engine, it can be done just as long as you think it's worth your time. You are gonna encounter a few roadblocks along the way.

I know this guy that has a Camaro w/the 3.8. He did a bunch of mods (the usual cam/ported intake-heads/headers/converter...). V-6s aren't made to be ragged on anyway.
He was going to the track one night and it spun a rod. He called a flat bed and had it towed. To make a long story short, he had an LS-1 w/tranny and all necessary parts delivered to my shop and i did the install. It turned out perfect and just by looking, you really couldn't tell it'd been converted. All-in-all, it would save a lot of trouble and just buy a Z 28.

instead of spending mucho money modifying a V-sux into a decent car, that the factory already made millions of,why not just go buy one?

i already said my reason :P insurance is killer for me, i'd be paying 3500 a year of insurance, so it would be cheaper if i kept a v6 car with only 2200 a year on insurance which i to be lowered in a few months if i dont ahve accidents to 1700

Any LT1 or LS! 5.7L 350 V-8 will bolt right up to your stock engine mounts. You will need to change your computer, change your Bell housing on your tranny, and change a few other things such ass suspension to be able to accomodate the heavier V-8. I have a 3.4L as well and am in the process of putting a v-8 into it. Look at all the post on here. Read up. There are a lot of sites that will help you.
