yep.
this time I really need something relaxing after so many foolish builds up. I have been a little less productive for forum stuff in the last period cause some planes (my very first love ever), and just now I am at a good point with my scratchbuild Savoia S.95 airliner in 1/72 scale...
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-c-f_Xe-oa_o/VdHb9fQTA5I/AAAAAAAA6l8/y3t47c1vq5U/s300-Ic42/%252524_35.JPG
and here the "Bambino" comes..
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-kanAQCyUa3w/Vls8XgYCC4I/AAAAAAABIz0/r3pXqSHgGJs/s512-Ic42/IMG_2982.JPG
it tooks me 6 months to arrive to this step, so think now I need some vacations..some pause..something different and more interesting for my forum friends (and fb followers.. :))
SO NOW... time to relax with some of my 911´s.
For now I will make an unique wip start, then probably will divide it when the 3 ambitious projects will be a little better fwd in develope.
Basically , to relax, I would like to build those cars:
RWB 911s based car, that at today I dont think anybody did..

then.. another rusty dirty one, that already inspired me time ago and couldnt start too..
911sc Porsche safari martini

lets rock !

991 RSR
so, time ago I made some question post about the availability around of a whatever model of the 991, the last beautyful lady from zuffenhausen. I search around and no way, the only 991 around available is the welly die cast, rapresenting a street 911. I really dont like work on die cast models, cause is really a pain to cut and reshape them, so I was trying to use a 997 or whatever in palstic around to make it simple. No way. 991 has a different wheelbase, so the only way is scrap that model.
It is a must to say welly makes very nice cheap diecast. is very few bucks items, but shapes are always well taken (I am sure they do it in 3d as masters..) so I dismantled a red model.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-qPI6sJkX8wE/VgVY505BiHI/AAAAAAABF28/q3JGrnEX7-A/s512-Ic42/IMG_2312.JPG
as said shape is welltaken and almost all parts comes away easy with a little patience (the ment plastic to fix parts from inside).
Measures are important, and welly is in a correct 1/24 scale. to turn it into the brutal RSR I need to wide it, using as fixed measure the wheelbase and working over a blueprint found online. Note original bp is in 25th scale, but with photoshop was not difficult to keep into bigger scale.

911 sc Safari
Time ago Micha started a wip in the street section about this car:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=1138495&highlight=porsche+safari
that gave me the idea to build it too. The main problem around this car is that wheels can be little tricky to fit to the 911 sc body, as well also find a correct 911 sc is a challenge in 24th scale. From what I know there is no models, so instead of searching resin tk or something that anyway must be reworked I look around at my stash to find something suitable for this. I decided to use one of the esci/heller 934 car, cause after the arrival of the Tamiya models I dont think I will ever finish theme as they are. So took one and reworked all body. The ducktail is an ugly resin copy arriving dunno from where. An ordinary fujimi part in plastic is infinitely better, but when I planned this car I didnt had it (now I have but will use on another car.. :cwm27::cwm27:)
In the beginning I wanted to use some revell or fujimi carrera 964 based. In reality the sizes are very similar to sc cars, but on the models the plastic different parts are moulded on them. Add to this, it seems to me both the kits are quite welldone, specially the body of the revell car, and misteriously she also come quite pricey on ebay (maybe cause really vintage model from the 90s..and there are no other models for 964 carrera2/4 cars around).
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-wiGe6tGDje0/VdypIA3jyhI/AAAAAAAA7ps/N2qUFYXQ8v0/s640-Ic42/IMG_1703.JPG

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--p-AkAISY3I/VdypIAvIJAI/AAAAAAAA7ps/ZapzaLt8JPQ/s640-Ic42/IMG_1715.JPG
Nice models trough. Think is no good scrap theme to backdate to sc of the 70s standard. Much better keep theme for some RS project...
...and so lets brutalize the heller model. A modelling saw appears..

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-2O4P2RDvyco/Vii5HURzpiI/AAAAAAABG9Y/4HOcZcP1gA0/s512-Ic42/IMG_2497.JPG
here wheels are still a problem, but first of all I wanted to cut it all, and search around all the pictures of historical/modern replicas. They are really beautiful cars, including the fooilsh ones , surely based on recent cars so fully comfortable, and TOO COOL imho...
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-P4vMZEjxAgc/Vdiy6v_vZQI/AAAAAAAA7II/Wea1WNc5x0s/s800-Ic42/20141212_103224.jpg

It is my opinion anyway the rear wheel is a little bit bigger than the fwd one. The tires I took from an Esci/italeri Range rover, and they look really welldone in pattern. very similar to many seen on different pics.
Original museum car has quite small tyres, and looking at pics is nearly surely possible to fit theme on an ordinary sc body without so many modifications..

...but my problem is I am a wheel/setup feticist and I like the ugly big foot ones like this:
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-a8yFb9k3SpI/Vdiwhwoo0SI/AAAAAAAA7II/I9cXtjqf9HY/s640-Ic42/03-photo-51.jpg
Range rover wheels can be ordered separately still from Italeri website. They are really really welldone and imho nearly perceft for this idea..

RWB 911 s.... or whatever, we will see..
Recently many skilled modellers around have been tempted by the nice tuning done by Nakai San and his Rauh Welt. His cars are definitely cool toys.
Dunno if Ferdinand Porsche would like it (forget to ask about theme to Orlando Redolfi when I met him to spot the K3 he has in his company garage for historical racing..), but I absolutely do, and after purchasing Chris C1 993 car I started look at this recent monster spotted on the rwb fanpage.
The reissue from fujimi allows to have this car without the stellar prices those old kits reached in the last years. They are good in quality, but imho always at a very lower level (surely for the age) than any tamiya car.
my problem here ..is I dont like the standard very slim body ot the original 901 car. Of course have one in garage can be cool (arent they worthed half million dollar today?) but with models I like to dream, so I brutalize also her...
rwb cars that inspired me are those ones:

http://carzz.co/rwb-long-nose-911-completed-in-thailand-rwb-porsche-9-carzz_390134_xl.jpg
Little by little I would like to achieve some of those specials, but after my 993 rwb cabrio buildup think I will prefer to make coupe´cars, cause they keep better the line of this evergreen car.
Also I found some Minilite wheels, that fit very well with this little 911. This pics are my inspiration:

so the widening of the 911s comes.. and not to bore you with the silly details of what you surely already know (read plasticard, milliput and sand sand sand....then milliput again then sand sand sand again.. :runaround: ) here is what I got..

Very interesting project(s).
First, I didn't realize how much work it would need, but having now seen the base models that you are using, I do appreciate your goals even more. Looks like there will be some major p.i.t.a. included, though.
I will be following.

991 RSR
of course of this group the hardest one to work on is the 991.
With BP I took it all to scale. the wheelbase should become 102 mm, and draws are perfect now. Means the width of the car must remain 85mm, both for front and rear axle. I start then with the widening of the fenders. They result impressively larger than original 991 model car...

to fill it up with putty and milliput I made a base of bones in plasticard, as well as when you build up boats, to keep the lines at the same level. The front fenders are really strange in this rsr. Seems they have 2 lines in the direction of the door. of course the curvature changes in that point. Will be always important to keep drawings near not to loose the main measure of the width

still 991 RSR
this grey 3d shows the lines of the fenders. It is quite tricky to keep theme

meanwhile as usual I start to write down a list of the "problems" of what I see.
first of all was wheels. I had some BBS clones looking decent.. compared to original toy wheel (anyway in a good scale and much better than any revell attempt on their porsches..)

going up filling the flares. not so easy work and this time I would like to keep the use of 2 part epoxy putty as minimum as I can, cause as I noted in my previous project, is very hard to maintain the shapes in part that must be specular and identical.

Going on with 991 I tested some balck primer. working over diecast makes it easy to loose the perception of lines so nee d a darker coat to see better what I am doing and where to retouch it.

Thanks guys. Your support is always appreciated.
Here some fitting test for rear lights. in 991 rsr they are melted into rear fenders, so some dry fit is a needing
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-clID4kuDLqo/VmVP6FPiX3I/AAAAAAABJO8/L-Y-EajlCgA/s512-Ic42/IMG_3134.JPG
and a silly part is about front arrows. Is a messy part where plastic meets die cast and clear parts...and must be enlarged in its edges.. then all fixed on model and leveled

is important to progress with a schema. Before this part, then lower lights, then plan for the PE grill on front radiator, then front lip and then the compete bonnet. This to avoid the ugly gaps typical from toysh parts from die cast like my base.
