Whining/whistling noise

I have a 2008 mercury mointaineer. I recently slid on some ice and ran my tire into the curb. The mechanic claimed I bent the tie rod so 500 bucks to replace that. I take it home and I notice a whistling noise and a little bit of vibration. Any clue on what this could be.

Is it a whistling noise, or more of a chirping noise? Does the noise change with vehicle speed, engine speed, or remain constant? Does it change when you apply the brakes?

Similar for the vibration - does it change when turning a particular direction, does it change with vehicle speed? Does it change when applying the brakes.

The more information you provide, the better the information the forum will be able to provide.

I would say it's a whistling noise...more noticeable when I turn left....I notice vibration when I stop...or when I'm going like 30mph and let off the gas it seems to vibrate or shake

Is the vibration in the body of the vehicle (felt in the seats), just in the steering wheel, or just in the brake pedal?

From your latest post it sounds to me like a misfire / vacuum leak.

They are saying I need new wheel barrings.....700 bucks!!!

From the information provided I would say you have two issues that you are trying to resolve and the whistling is separate from the vibration. I could justify a wheel bearing causing a higher frequency rumbling noise that gets more pronounced during a turn in one direction, but that would in no way explain a vibration that become more pronounced when the vehicle is stopped.

As Maxwedge suggested, taking your vehicle to another shop that can experience the noise and vibration in person is likely to yield better results than our guesses on the forum based on verbal descriptions.
