i drive an integra so i havent a clue how fast accords are thats why im asking the accord ppl :D

i saw this guy at the gas station and went over to talk to him and heres what he had done:

92 accord lx
5spd
17" chrome wheels
chrome dipped valve cover
dc ceramic header
msd ignition
plug wires
msd blaster coil
short ram intake
stage 2 clutch
lightened flywheel

he said it would run low 14s but has never run it. what do you guys think?

Low 14's yea right, maybe if he's spraying the hell out of it. I would guess high 15's low 16's

hmmmm, i would agree with jackasssi that he would most likely be in the 15s and 16s with the mods you mentioned.

Just take the 17" rims. They're not what the accords come stock with so he's increased the diameter of the wheel to turn. He's lost some torque there even with low prof tires but it's possible he made up enough and then some with the stage 2 clutch if he's upped the tranny gears as well.

He's got a decent ignition (much better than stock) and intake but he hasn't complimented it with the exhaust. The LX trim comes with a single 1 to 1 down pipe where as the ex and se models came equiped with 2 to 1 down and a trick intake manifold for better air intake and exhaust evacuation. ignore the valve cover and other dress ups.

Finally, unless he's stripped it good to lighten an already heavy car (i drive one myself) to hit the 13s and 14s he's probably bottle feeding it a little even with higher octane fuel I'd be surprised if he were hitting the 14s but what do I know.

BUT!!!! All this is speculation on my part. Have him show you a time slip and see if he'll let you take a look under his hood and trunk.

he has one of those weld on exhaust tips, but its big lol  :shakehead

its like 4" across... i dont see the point of those, look of exhaust? just save up and buy it, waste of $30 to get one of those stupid tips that are 4" wide and 8" long from kragen

Yeah, the exhaust tips are just dressings. Nothing there to mention except if it adds to the overall appearance.

I dont get the whole exhaust tip thing. Why do you need a huge coffee can looking tip when your exhaust piping is only 2-2.50".

I stayed away from the whole Folgers look and went with Thermal's dual exhaust tip catback system. Definite performance increase (not huge but noticeable increase) and has a good lower mid sounding burble. It seems to get better over time. Hm.

Honestly, opening up the exhaust won't help greatly unless you've got a forced induction setup to take advantage of a freeier (sp? - real word?) flowing exhaust. Definitely helps compliment those with racing headers and CAI. Tips should be the icing (still works with or without em).

but those stupid tips that just bolt/weld onto the stock setup ($28.99 @ kragen, 8" long, not a whole new muffler..) dont make it look better, looks like shit cuz you can still see the stock rusted up smogged up dirtied up muffler connected to it

Ok even with 3" exhaust piping, why do people have 5" tips? Opening up a tip wont improve shit. Looks? I dont think so, some people do i guess.

Well, yeah you know. People work with what they have. He's probably got a set budget and he may be more focused on performance rather than rust if you catch my drift.

Also, there are still people who don't take much pride in doing the job right and have learned to settle for 1/2 the donkey:wink:

Yeah, there are still those of us who may not have an eye for good car fashion but we may have an eye for performance.:bloated:

he's got a nice little start, but i think youre all giving him too much credit. i dont think he's got a chance to hit 15's with that car. and of course, having chrome wheels doesnt help any. im thinking high 16's and maybe even low 17's.

just think about it, unless incorrect, i read somewhere that the 0-60 on the f22a was about 10sec... that doesnt sound anywhere close to a 15sec car. but i love my 4th gen, i personally think they look the best, but you cant deny theyre slow pieces of shit.

if you want a fast car, you have to start with a good base. stop wasting time chrome plating and get a h22.

his car was nice. he had projector headlights, eibach sportlines with koni yellows, camber kit. it was just his exhaust setup that was ass...

he told me he ordered a turbo kit too so i dont think budget is the issue in this case, but i see what you mean in other cases

4th Gens are slow because their heavy that's true. So then 1 of my main plans is to lose as much weight as possible without sacrificing too much comfort (i.e. carrying children and friends every once and a while). I'm settled on not pulling my AC so there's a missed big opportunity for lightening my load. 9lbs 15" rims are on my list. Most stock Honda rims range from 19 to 23 lbs each so 1 can see the benefits if you know your math fundamentals.

Carbon Fiber hood on that same list along with lighter Sparco-esque seats. And finally, hit that gym and drop some lbs boys & girls. :iceslolan

An H22 swap would be nice. It's silly referring to such swaps as Hybrids when the American Drag Scene have been throwing 9" Ford rears under Pontiacs and Chevies for decades. And Pony riders and Chevy enthusiasts not to mention the Moparers have been swapping out their respect blocks with smaller or hotter running 351s, 427's, 350 smalls, 454s, etc. (sorry if I've left out any Mopar blocks but I'm not as familiar with them). Chevies are Chevies, Fords are Fords...Hondas are Hondas. Logic just dictates the appropriate conclusion.

Now drop a Ford 5.0 in a 92 RX-7 and we're talking Hybrid. A friend of mine has such a thing.
