i think it would be the shit to see a american car company come to f1. I personally think all three main makes (chevy, dodge, and ford) could contend in f1 if they worked together to make a car and engine. what do you think.

Ford are already in it, through Jaguar.
Those three work together? You must be joking, right?

Not just Jaguar. Jaguar engines are branded "Cosworth", as are Minardi, while Jordan even has the blue oval on their cars, so Ford is very much involved in F1 and has been for decades.

I realize that you are correct in stating that Ford is involved in F1 thru the cosworth engine program, however, I think what he means is that the big three US car manufacturers are not directly involved, in other words, none of the makes are campaigning there own team, such as ferrari . As you and I know, most of the teams are based on the chasis manufacturer and not the engine builder. Many teams are using BMW engines and so on.....Anyway, I think it would be cool to see Chevrolet take a shot at it, they are doing great in the American Le Mans series with the C5R vettes, they are not doing so well in the IRL which they just got back in to. I can't honestly see Dodge being able to compete, they have a good engine programm when in comes to NHRA ,but I can't see them being able to hang with the high revving technology required for a good podium presence in F1. Just my 2 cents..........lol

Ahhh, I forgot about those other teams ales.
I doubt Bernie will let anymore than one more team onto the grid. I think theres a 22 car limit?

General Motors has expressed interest in maybe buying a team which goes to show they aren't and wouldn't be committed enough. Look what they did with the Cadillac program at Le Mans, never made enough commitment to even get close to winning while Audi spent 400 million dollars, you have to pay to play.
The Jaguar/Ford team have been a big joke thus far, with their budget they shoud be winning races. Just goes to show money is just part of it, also shows that competing in F1 is a tremendous undertaking that is definitely harder than it would seem.
It takes years of experience to reach the top, I doubt there are many, or anymore factories that would financially and managerially stick to it long enough to make it.

Dodge is part of Daimler Chrysler so that's also a no go, since Mercedes represents that group.

No, Chevy and Cosworth working together.
Cosworth tune the engines, they actually aren't even a proper Ford company.
A Ford Cosworth is a Cosworth tuned Ford engine.

From the press release:
Following their acquisition by AUDI AG, the various areas of Cosworth were brought together under the name Cosworth Technology Ltd. Cosworth Technology Ltd. operates from four locations: in Northampton (UK) the company develops all-in solutions for drivelines – from the initial draft design of the engine to the testing of control systems. Aluminium cylinder heads and engine blocks of very high purity are cast at Worcester (UK). The Cosworth Technology process is patented. The ultra-modern plant at Wellingborough (UK) produces and assembles engines. This plant supplies the engines and machined cylinder heads and engine blocks for the Audi RS 6, for example. The development of innovative information and diagnostic systems at Novi (Michigan, USA) completes the line-up. Audi consequently has technologies at its disposal that will continue to corroborate its Vorsprung durch Technik in the future

chevy could care less, they are in nascar and the irl. Dodge is affiliated with Benz and they are already in there. That would be like nissan coming in when renault is already there. The only way i could see it happening is if they just branded the engine a different make.

Cosworth Technology is Audi, but Cosworth Racing is a Ford owned company. We went through this on another thread.
As far as GM racing in F-1, I would bet they would use their Opel brand.
I agree that Dodge can no longer be considered an American company. Ford and GM are the only large American auto manufactures.
GM and Ford are working together on a transmission for street cars, but I do not ever see them working together in professional motorsports.
