I purchased a 2008 Ford Escape a few months that was advertised to only have 40,000 miles on it. It drove fine for a few months, and then the engine stopped working. A part of the piston broke off and was banging around in the engine so the engine needs to be replaced. When the mechanic was taking the engine out he noticed that there was an LKQ label on the engine (see attached image). The mechanic says that means that the engine in my vehicle is not an OEM engine but either a used or rebuilt engine. Is that correct?

Like Kind and Quality The most common name for LKQ parts is Aftermarket. These parts are usually sold online or in car parts stores. LKQ parts are also installed at body shops and small auto repair facilities. these parts are not OEM
