Water in the intake... Yum

I live down south and, as most of you know, it's been raining like a mother every day for the past couple of weeks. My brother has an ICEMAN CAI on his 5g Lude and he sucked up some water on his way home this afternoon. Needless to say, his car coughed and died. I know he probably has some bent valves and maybe a couple of bent rods or something. I was wondering if anyone could give me a best case and worste case scenario. He was cruising at about 30-45 or something and was on the gas when it happend. He also tried to crank it after it happend. THanks.

From what i gathered about my situation, water got in and threw a rod through my oil pan... then all the oil leaked out. I haven't really looked at it yet - but i guess i have my work cut out for me now. Chances are if you bent a rod or two - you may need to resleeve because the cylinder walls will be all gouged.. I'm not sure about bending valves - i don't think you will have to worry about those - your biggest concern is a bent or thrown rod. I suggest you take off your oil pan and check it out - you may find a rod in there like i did :sly:

Damn guys. Sorry about your luck with the problems there. I too recently ran through a puddle of water and my Prelude got a good drink. I have a custom CAI which is tucked behind where the fog lights should go. When I noticed mine bogging out I just cut the switch and left it in gear hoping with no gas i would push the water out and not end up a sitting duck. When I got home I flushed my system and put new oil and filter in. I know it isnt exactly what you are looking for but maybe if you get your rides up and running again it might help avoid this again.
