Brake Squeal

A year ago I replaced the front rotors on my '09 Silverado ext cab with top quality NAPA rotors and Hawk HB561Y.710 Ferro-Carbon pads and after 15K miles I get a loud squeal hot or cold mostly when turning into or backing out of the driveway. The back of the pads had anti squeal stuff applied and anything that needed to be lubed was lubed. Any ideas what the problem is? The brakes work and stop perfectly...just squeal...:runaround:

take the pads out. make sure they pop out easy. meaning no tools required.

I would then put anti seize high temp on the pad backing. this allows the pads to move and not squeal. clean off the old stuff you put on first.

Ok...so I know what the squeal is. I bought new tires and the service guy called me over and showed me the front right rotor. It has a 1/4" grove in it and if you look inside the caliper you can see a piece of metal. I had the caliper taken off and the piece of metal is part of the clip that the pads ride on. Upon closer examination all four pads have messed up clips with several scraping the rotors. So I bought new clips but there is no way the Hawk pads fit correctly on the clips. The the part of the clip that gets trapped by the pad is actually supposed to go under the pad material and contact the back plate but my pads are too long and hit the clips. Has anyone heard of this? I sent an email this morning to Hawk and so far haven't heard back. If you look at a picture of the current pad with the same part number that I bought the pad material is tapered so the clips don't make contact...but my pads are straight.

the old pads should be the same backing plate as what you purchased if not then wrong part..

no old pads ?? then go to the auto store and compare with whats in there now.
