2008 Sierrra outside door mirror retraction?

Does anyone have a solution for the outside door mirrors that fail to retract? Seem the one on the driver's door does okay but not the passenger door mirror. I guess the motor is bad or possibly the activation switch on the driver door. Has anyone seen this problem, if so got any advice on the solution?

Thanks!

The most common failure on these is the mirror. The whole mirror assembly usually needs replaced.

Oh not good news, is that relatively easy to do at home if you're reasonably decent at repair work, or require a special tools / and a trip to the dealer or other repair shop?

Thanks for the info!

Pretty straight forward. Pull the door panel, unbolt and unplug the mirror. The mirror cover will need to be swapped over, or the new one will need to be painted to match. Would be wise to verify wiring and signals to the mirror are ok, but, like I said, the problem is usually the mirror.
