What's the best exhaust for.....

Hey all,


I have a 1991 240....what is the best looking and sounding exhaust...what I mean by sounding is not too loud....just nice throaty sounds.

this is what im tryin to find now too, not too fond of the n1 dual sounds... not deep enuff..

however, this is a 4 cyl we're talkin about, not exactly easy to get that rabid-rottweiler-eating-a-bass-tube sound like a skyline with an HKS Hyper-Dunk exhaust

duals pipes will not be as loud as a single pipe so if you want deeper get the n1 single or the hks(I forget the exact name of it but its not hard to find on their site)

I like the look of a single better than the dual anyways unless its a dual(one on each side)

I WOULD GET A 3INCH 5ZIGEN

I would NOT get a 3inch 5zigen UNLESS you have a turbo, if so maybe check it out, but for a N/A thats too big

exhaust i plan to get = GReddy/Trust DD. meanest looking exhaust out there IMO, and makes an incredibley deep sound. not for KA's though. i'm only getting it once i slap my SR in.

better not get that on n/a... talk about cops being on your ass

i was seriously looking at that one... too bad its sooo loud. it's almost a spit image of the apexi n1 dual but has much better ground clearance and smaller cans.

it doesn't even have cans, that's why i like it. it looks SO mean, almost like 2 straight pipes jutting out the back of your car. but yeah...LOUD! hehe. definitley for turbo only.

btw, Mark, did you find any prices on it anywhere? i haven't taken a good look around yet, so i haven't seen it priced anywhere as of yet and was just curious of a ballpark.

what about tanabe i heard they sound the best? Yeah cause i dont want a high pitched sound i want a deep sound:iceslolan

Assuming I get a 240SX, id prob. make my own exhaust, out of pipes, and try and do a custom muffler/canister to pass e-test.

Now, all cars sound the same cause of mass-produced exhaust systems. I dont want my car to sound like a rice-can, so I wanna make my own exhuast. Saves $$ too

whats wrong with using the GReddy Trust DD with a N/A KA24DE?

I think since its designed for the SR20DET, it will break noise limits on an N/A KA

yep it's supposed to be ear-deafening on n/a, especially if you have an intake and header

LOUD... i guess it sounds and is as loud as a harley

we dont buy performance products just for looks... for an n/a the dual is better because it creates more backpressure in the exhaust system. silencers help further. and the dual allows more air to pass through on a turbo engine, best of both worlds.

Not that this helps any, but there is a company that sells exhuast systems called Thermal Research & Design, unfortunately the only Nissan system they make is for the 300ZX, HOWEVER, they also make a system for Saturns which I currently have, and it sounds incredible. Anyhow, I figure if they make a system for Saturns, if you bombard them with ideas enough they might make one for 240SX's both KA and SR. I'll upload some sounds of my car later on today, to let you guys see if you like.

Not only cause I own it but other have said the same as well. I owned a 5zigen Fireball (NA version) previous to it. Anyways I highly recomend it. But then again I don't cause I wanna be the few to have it!

I'm currently running Trust DD on a KA24DE and let me tell you...running with no exhaust would not be any louder. I've been pulled over 5 times or so stricly from the exhaust. I don't know how Greddy pulled it off but it sounds incredible and has such a deep tone to it. None like any other exhaust I have seen or heard. they don't make these for the M30/Leopard...but i'm going to try and get an exhaust shop to make me some custom piping to put one of these bad boys on my M30 once the RB20 is in. :naughty:

hey dvdevo, is that the trust DD exhaust on a 240? if so what is different about the sound without silencers? is it deeper/higher a little louder/REALLY loud? and what kind of performance differences could you FEEL when you put it on?

damn, I think that HKS sport is nice!!

has a nice wail to it kinda like a carb'd crotchrocket but it isn't too raspy or buzzy I think, at first I heard some rasping abd buzzing on the Hi-Power one.
