2001 VR6 - AC Problem

Main Radiator Fan is out. I tried putting 12V directly to it and it won't kick. AC Compressor Clutch also won't kick. Is there a "safety" or something that will keep the compressor from coming on if the fan is dead? Gonna replace the fan anyway but trying to plan ahead. Smaller Aux fan is working fine so I don't and both fans are getting power so I don't think it's a fuse or fan relay/control. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
