Cables which supply spark plugs are damaged

Hi everyone,

Electric cables which supplies power to one of the spark plug coils in my Toyota Vitz had been damaged at the point the cables join the socket at the spark plug coil.

I took the vehicle to a mechanic and he soldered the damaged cables using led and used insulating tape to insulate them. Mechanic told that the spare sockets are hard to find and soldering with led should work.

Is it safe only to solder the cables and use insulating tape? What is the correct way to repair this?

Thanks

Spare sockets may be impossible to find, or only available as part of the complete engine wiring harness.
If it's only one of the low voltage wires that power the coil, it certainy is safe.
It's more a factor of how well the soldering job was done, and how the elements are kept out of the area that could cause corrosion.
Heat shrink tubing to seal and insulate (from electrically shorting out) the repair will last longer than wrap around tape. Electrical tape will eventually come undone and unravel because of the heat.
