Halo Projectors

I'm about to get some new headlights with the black housing for my Accord, but I don't know if I wanna get the projector style or the original lamp style.
Does anyone know about the visibility on either option? I want my car to loook good, but I still wanna be able to see the road ahead of me!
I'm hoping to create a CL-S type look with the black headlight housing against charcoal grey paint. The whole black on dark grey thing looks sweet to me. Right now, my car is dark blue, which actuall looks pretty good with the gunmetal wheels I got, but I want grey.
I 'm thinking about going with the black carbon housing altezzas in back to create a total black on grey effect, but I'm still a little bit against the association of ricers and altezzas. Plus, I don't know if I like the design of the black altezzas for the 00 accord sedan.
Any advice or suggestions would help. I'm trying to have this part done by the end of July.:icon16:

i actually have black housing projectors on my civic. i've seen them on accords, they look aiight in my opinion, a little overdone. however, the other lights you are talking about (black housing stock design) are BADASS! i LOVE those lights. i think you should get those. as far as altezzas go, i've never seen any altezzas for the 98-02 accords that look good. i think you should just stick with stock ones, or go for a red/clear look on the back. just my 2cents...
here's an Accord SiR-T, thought you might like these headlights...

I've seen both types of housings, but I've never seen the original style with blk housing on an actual car. Only on websites or mags.
I'm undecided about the lights in that pic. I think I need a few more angles to see if I really like em. Thanx tho.
How is the visibility on your halos? Better? Worse:frown: ? I know sometimes, messing with the aftermarket lighting makes your car LOOK a helluva lot better, but you cant see at night.:sunglasse
I do like the red/clears for my car. I HATE that stock pinkish lens. It looks so :gay: And actually, going back to my whole CL-S clone theory, the new CLs have red/clears in back. It looks nice.
Hmmmm........:banghead: I hate making decisions about my car!!! Its so hard sometimes!

well you're on the right track. just do whatever you feel is best for it. as far as my visibility goes, its not really better or worse, just different. my stock headlights gave me a better view of the road im diving on, while my projectors give me a better view of the things around me. you can always adjust them to fit your desired lighting...

I didn't know you could adjust projectors. Is that like a one time thing? Or can you adjust em pretty much whenever you want? I actually have no knowledge of projector and HID conversion systems. I wish I could get both and compare them, then return the one I don't want the next day.

i had some angel eyes until i crashed and shattered them to tiny pieces. i was able to adjust them with the screw adjustment thing. it just tilts the actual projector light. you could do it whenever you want

Emerge- Just saw your pics of angel eyes on your civic and I fell in love! I want the Ion Angel Eyes For Sure!!! Do you (or anybody else) know of a website where I could get them for my car? (98-02 Accord)
I found a lot of websites that mention them, but they will either not confirm that they are angel eyes or they wont have the ones that fit my model year.:frown:
I am only trying to find them on the web first because if I order it from one of my local shops, they are most likely gonna cost more. I saw the Civic Angels on the internet listed as $220 retail, but being sold for $148 plus like $20 SH!
Any help PLEASE!:frown: :1zhelp: :attention :feedback: :sadwavey: :banghead:

:puke: clearouts?! :slap:
00accord44
07-01-2003, 08:50 AM
I would consider clearouts if I had a light colored accord. I guess either white or silver, but I like dark cars and plus it would look dumb to have gunmetal wheels on a dark blue (soon to be dk grey) car and then go AWOL with clearouts in front and back. Kills the whole dark effect.
I personally wouldn't reccomend it.
As for EBAY, Emerge, I dunno. I've never used it before. I 'll give it a shot. I want these things BAD! Plus, nobody in my area has em. The only angel eyes I see around here are on Bimmers. And I fell in love with em when BMW started putting em on the 5 series

Stay with stock, or get real HID ($400-$600), please. Halos suck, they don't light up shit.

What do you mean Angel eyes dont light up shit? They're not intented to. Or do you mean they don't light up at all? But that can't be the case, because I've seen the pics of Emerge's Civic and they look great!
I did another search, a different way this time and found som sites with them. The lowest price so far was $255 :eek2: :wtf:
Needless, to say. I'm still looking. I was hoping to find a deal in the $200-225 range.

I know halos don't light up better than regular lights because I own a pair. They come with H1 bulbs, the same as foglights bulbs, and nothing bigger will fit in the housing.

So you're saying the visibility is no better than stock or no better than your average xenon bulb? I don't have foglights, so I don't really know how bright the average H1 is. But brightness is going to vary from brand to brand regargless. If I buy some PIAA H1's they will of course be brighter than AutoZone Brand X. Juno what I mean mayne?

I bought CATZ H1's and they aren't much brighter than normal H1's, just bluer. They are nowhere near as bright as the stock civic lights. H1's are the smallest automotive bulbs you can buy for headlights, they're the shittiest of the shittiest. If you like the blue halos then they're worth it, but don't look to brighten up the road any at night...
00accord44

DAMN! Another factor to consider. But I am still confused as to how they could be that much dimmer. I do understand that the bulb itself is smaller, but (according to product packaging details) the majority of H1 bulbs put out 100 watts. My lights I have now put out 80 watts for the regs and 100 for my brights! And my lights (although not the brightest) are pretty good. Is it the wasy the light is diffused through the projectors that causes the poor visibility?
I know no one here is an electrotechnician, but if anybody can help explain, I would like to know before I make a $250+ investment.

Like I said man, halos=cool, functionality=zero. Plus to adjust the lights you have to move the whole housing around, it's a pain. It could be the thick plastic housing diffusing the light, I don't know... but still H1 bulbs are tiny and don't fill the road with light as much as a nice juicy H4 (stock civic bulb).

So what is this I hear about using HID in the projector housing. Or something like that. Maybe I could just live with the burden of H1 for now and install HID later???
I dunno. I don't think I like that plan myself. I'm such a confused guy.

I don't know how much of a gain you could get with a CATZ Zeta kit on an H1, but I know they beef up H4's so much they look like brights, and the beam still points down. If I could go back in time I would buy some ctr housings instead, or tear mine apart and spraypaint the chrome black to make a ctr look-alike.

You only have one halo on each housing? The normal headlight doesn't have one, but it's an H4 so maybe that has something to do with it... heat maybe?

Thanks for the pics Emerge. Thosa are actually the ones I saw before that made me love the Halos so much. When I did a search on yahoo for "angel eyes projectors", that thread was like 4th on the list of choices.
But pictures never really do justice as far as lighting is concerned imo. In normal pictures, lights are deceivingly dim, and in magazine pictures (the ones selling headlights and HID kits) the light is usually brightened a bit.
I guess I'll have to find out for myself. This could be a learning lesson coming up!
I finally got my direct deposit put through today, so I'm about to order the lights from Aspec this afternoon.
Also, I found a lot of PIAA H1 100 and 110 watt bulbs for cheap on ebay. about $40 - $50 And for those who don't know, that IS cheap for PIAA bulbs:frown: But I'll see what the bulbs that come with are like before I order those.

Get some nice HID's man, you'll be sooo much happier because they actually light up the road, and look cool in the daytime if you get the right pair, some look like ass. HID's cost about the same or a little bit more, but are worth it imo.

I paid $300 for my halos new, and for an extra $100 it's worth it for HID's. I don't buy used crap for my ride, so I don't know how much they're going for on ebay.

Not all the "crap" on ebay is used. Some of it is wholesalers or insider deals. I don't buy used stuff either. The company/corporate sellers on ebay usually have the new stuff. its the private sellers that stick you with their hand-me-downs. If there is only one item up for bid, I would assume its most likely used, but when one seller has 28 or so of the same item, you can bet they're brand new coming at a wholesale price.
BTW, I paid Matrix Racing $165, $190 after shipping, for my halos that I finally found on ebay. List price: $332, their website price: $220:bigthumb:

Basically halos or projectors just offer a different light pattern. my friend has an ek9 hatchback with blacked out dual halo projectors and it looks awesome. im planning on getting dual black halos on mine as well as an HID kit. total cost, around $400 dollars.

Will the HID kit wotk with the head light? Won't the HID melt the headlight?

HID's use less wattage, far less, than a regular lightbulb, but put out more lumens (which eqauls more light). They use about 25-35 watts of power. A high wattage aftermarket bulb will burn hotter in that since than the HID would.
