Hello there. I'm new to the forum, as I'm looking at doing a project car with my son, and have a lead on a 1970 LeMans. It's body off, frame done, body almost done, everything seems to be there, except: front windshield, rear window, and a hood. Could someone give me advice as to where I might find these items at a descent price?? I live in Ontario, Canada, and there's nowhere I can find that has anything. It will mean the difference between buying the car or not, and really don't want to pass it up if I can find these things. I'll settle for anything that will interchange between years. What would that be?
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and have a great day!!
Nick

Me again! The owner said it came with the GTO package?
Floor console/shifter, bucket seats. What else should it come with or I should look for? It also has the endure front end piece, but the chrome bumpers are on it? Are the hoods interchangeable?
Thanks again.
Nick

might try a junk yard search at car-part.com to see if any wrecking yards have the parts. otherwise you will have to check on craigslist in your area for someone parting one out or e-bay

Thanks, but the oldest cars in our wrecking yards up here are from 1990/2000 on!
Called everyone local within a couple of hundred miles, and nothing. Any info in terms of interchanging parts, etc.? Would like to know all my options before buying the car. I know they can be worth a lot when complete, but we're doing this for ourselves, not for an investment. Unlimited time..... not much money.
Want to teach the boy about hard work, patience, and have fun!!
Thanks for your help :)

try that site anyway, might find some yards in California or Arizona that have some classic car wrecking yards and keep checking e-bay. shipping will cost you some but thats the price of having a classic car

I Googled "Pontiac Parts" and came up with a boot load of catalog companies. Some people wind up buying 2 cars. One a project car and another one a 'donor car'. Actually helps keep the $$ down.

Looks like '68-'70 hoods interchange and '68-'72 on the glass. Make sure you specify 2 door body for the rear glass.HTH

Well, we bought it! 1970 LeMans Sport. My son is really excited to get going with it. The seller found the rear glass from Ottawa, and brought it to me. It was thru talking about the car that he mentioned he took the fenders from a 1971. Will this make any difference fitting the original 1970 nose piece, chrome bumper, and hood? They bolt on and appear to be correct, but I still don't have the hood, and may have to purchase it online. Would hate like heck to have it show up and not fit.
Last thing we'll be looking for is the front windshield. Found a 4-door LeMans with good glass. Will the windshield fit the 2-door?
Thanks again for your help.
And that's a sweet ride you got there!!

check with a local glass company, a new windshield installed might be better than using a old one that might have rock chips or delaminating glass. also usually the 4 door windshield is different than the 2 door but the hood should fit

Thanks a lot for the info :)
Going to take our time with it, so I'm not in a panic..... just don't want to miss out on finding hard to get parts, particularly if their local. Probably only come across a few if I stay within Ontario. With our winters (damn salt!) nothing lasts from back then :(
Keep u posted
